I've never heard Mackies.

Looks like the Sierra is good down to the lower 40hz:

The actual quasi-anechoic frequency response of the speaker is +/- 3dB from 44Hz to 22kHz. Expect -3dB in a typical room to be about 39Hz. Technically, the speaker is +/- 1.5 dB from about 55Hz to 22kHz.

The Ascends are neutral enough that they probably would work well in a studio application.

I had an opportunity to listen to the Mackies about a year ago (along with some of the better Polk bookshelfs, the Paradigm Studio-20's, and the Klipsch reference book shelf speakers) courtesy of Steven Mazer. The Mackies were head and shoulders above the rest. In fact, the Mackie's compared well to my Infinity Kappa's which cost twice as much.

Maybe I should of

posted this question here:)! The members here are less embattled, within this thread.:p

That price is very intriguing!!
My question is this, living up here duty & brokerage fees are a real snag! Is there any plans on making these products more accessible to Canadians. I've long read the great reviews on these products and some other ID brands, but to my knowledge only SVS has roots here and offer products without the incurred cost.

Billy, Ascend is a pretty small company. I don't foresee them being able to do something like that. They still don't even buy any advertising. SVS has huge worldwide sales.

Thanks!! I will consider these, when I finally get into the new house. I do love the look of the natural finish.

PS: The AVS thread, is now locked!:D

That woofer shows some remarkable performance for a 5.25 inch driver. And of course the Seas tweeter is always a good performer. All and all, it's a very interesting speaker.

I'm still on my thirty days free return on two 170's and 340 center channel. Return and get credit toward upgrade? Anyone see the dimensions and weight?

A couple of Los Angles area guys were able to pick up Sierras last night. We should start getting reports this weekend.

That 2nd thread got deleted completely over there. Surprised by all those that thumbed their nose at the mods. How did they think that wouldn't get deleted?

And I wasn't even involved with the second thread. Missed a perfectly good "Flame War".

It wasn't a flame war but just a couple of Ascend fans on that 2nd thread tweaking the AVS mods right after the mods had closed another thread and given a warning. I'll just assume alcohol was involved as it was late on a Friday night.

I will have to settle then for tweaking AV123's champion on Sunday afternoon. Alcohol can be expected to be involved.:D Strange that Ascend backers were troublesome. The Ascend forum is not like that at all.
