You are missing the point!
If this were a City of Minneapolis issue, there would not be worldwide protests. The whole world recognizes this as a systemic USA problem!
No, you're missing the point I was trying to make. This 'was' a City of Minneapolis issue (Mr Floyd) that they let get out of hand.

Yeah, radical right wingers are marching with left wingers and tearing up cities. Right. There are more Whites marching and rioting than I have ever seen but I have NEVER seen anyone dissect their political leanings. Do you have some source for this (other than the article about the wackjob with the umprella), or are you just being a social media 'expert'?

Nobody wants the violence and looting. If they do, they need to go away. After two months of losing money, businesses can't afford to lose everything and if you think their insurance will cover it, you need to read your renter or homeowner's insurance exclusions- civil unrest is specifically listed as a reason they won't pay for damage.
It's hard to know where the wackjob with the umbrella leaned politically, but he didn't seem to fit in and seems the radical right is the more likely instigator to make this situation blow up to cause an authoritarian reaction, sure wouldn't put it past the machine drumphy has setup for misinformation..... I don't think the radical left and right are marching together particularly, tho it's possible there's a few agents provacateur involved....

You can so limit your scope if you choose, or don't see the big picture, but the vast majority of the nation and world recognizes it as one more incidence of an on-going national problem!
Yes it may be the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back, but if it wasn't Floyd last week, it would have been someone else in the not so distant future.

I'm fully aware of the 'big' picture to which it is long overdue for correction, but(again) I deplore the violence of late, don't you ?

How about the people who do the mistreatment of humans via racism and prejudice and their leaders to start with? They're animals, too. Wipe'em out!
Sure if they are proven to be causing real harm to this country or states. With that said the animals in the street need to be dealt with first.

Maybe. Seems that approach isn't working particularly well. The protests will go away...probably. The prejudice/racism inherent especially in the white house hopefully in a couple a months will be gone, too. Long term, people need to get their shite together on this point.

From the L.A. Times, a minority (5%) of the protesters arrested (not locals) were extreme white nationalists and far-left groups. Nothing would please them more than to start a 'race war', as a means to an end.

I didn't get a chance to reply earlier, but I'm a big Clockwork Orange fan. When I read that novel in High School, it was serious overload for me at the time. But that story, and the way Anthony Burgess wrote it, incorporating this "slang" in to it, was simply beautiful (in a horrorshow manner of speaking, that is).
Clockwork Orange was a tough read, having to go to the glossary in the back to look up the slang (which I believe was derived by part Russian - a reasonable thought at the time of the book). Like you, I was too young to properly process it (I kind of hope I still am - not sure I want to be able to fully process it)!
However, to my recollection Grok is from Heinlein's "Stranger in a Strange Land"! That was probably my favorite book from my High School Sci-Fi years!
I can't wrap my head around it being banned in 2003 (in Texas). To me it is almost a ridiculously kind of "goody-two-shoes" book! Maybe ... in Texas, that is a concern. Makes me wonder what other books were on the Texas banned books list and what books are on that list today!

Yep it was hard to get thru Clockwork Orange the book, but I'd seen the movie first which helped :) Heinlein was a bit of an authoritarian right wing military guy....kinda surprising he came up with grok....but he was a horny old bastard! :)

No, I cannot honestly say I deplore it because I recognize it as what seems to be a necessary evil.
It really pisses me off that people have not yet had the will to eliminate this horrible injustice once and for all. None of the peaceful protests have been effective, none of the previous violent protests have been effective.
I'm sure you know the saying "Insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result". It seems the protesters are sane, they are trying something different!
I honestly don't want to live in a society that includes Ahmad Arbrey/Amy Cooper/George Floyd events to be tolerated. They should be eliminated. That said, I certainly do not support the anarchists that are seeding the protest locations with loose rocks/bricks and Molitov cocktails if that is actually happening!

I didn't think about it being the sexual side that might have got it banned!

Personally, I don't think most of the White people fit in.

Why would the Right want authoritarian reactions when that's the side who wants less government?

I could see the left and right marching together because deaths at the hands of the police should outrage everyone. This cop should have been booted long ago, but his superiors didn't do anything about him and for that, they should be punished, harshly.

I want accountability to go from the new officer trainees all the way to the Fire & Police commission and Mayor (maybe the county, if they're involved in fire and police decisions) in all cities- no free passes, no wink and a nod agreements, no BS. If someone dies and the death isn't truly justifiable (self defense or unavoidable), the people involved are tried & dealt with harshly, with department funding cut by incremental amounts. More deaths, less money and more pain for the department.

Found out this morning that a car was burned at a Ford dealership two blocks from my house. One car, that was all. Makes me wonder if it had a faulty ignition switch, which Ford has had problems with since at least the '70s. :)

LOL the right doesn't want authoritarianism....that's rich, particularly among the current crop of republicans, particularly the fascists in the white house. White people can get pissed off about racial injustice, too, tho. It is sad that the police instigated this mess, but it is what it is. Better training and personnel choices are in order for sure.

True! This is a terrible thing.

As one journalist put it; "Lucy can only yank the football away so many times before Charlie Brown punches her in the face!"

The black community has trusted our legal system to address the culture that allows systemic murder of (primarily) black men and after so many times of that trust being violated, they need to do something more to get appropriate attention on the core problem. This is not a rogue "bad cop", it is statistically a pattern reflecting a behavioral norm among certain police departments!

Even now, how are the three officers that were present not under arrest? They may get off (I understand one of them was primarily focused on the crowd and perhaps not aware of what was being done to Floyd), but they should be under arrest until then. That is what we would expect in the same situation if they were not cops!
Well, if doing more about this means getting more Blacks into local government, don't use Milwaukee as a model- the Common Council is 9-6 in favor of non-Whites and the county board of Supervisors is 8-7 in favor of Whites. Still the most segregated city in the country and before anyone starts in about all of the Republican Mayors, MKE hasn't had one in 103 years. The rest have been Democrats and Socialists, with MKE being the last major city to have a Socialist- he left office in 1960 and since then, this place has had three elected to that office, with one temporary one who was only there because the previous jerk left after a scandal.

I mean, Republicans don't usually want big government.

The department did nothing to prevent it- if we watch a crime being committed and do nothing, they can arrest us for it. Nobody who watched tried to make the cops stop.

Didn't Jeffrey Epstein do just that?
I don't mean they can come back or get anything from the rest of us, I mean they should just go there. Same with pedophiles and other turds who shouldn't be allowed to interact with the rest of the population.

Unfortunately life doesn't work that way. Maybe we can get an island for all the angry old entitled white dudes while we're at it?
