Ahblaza has been kind enough to give me his thoughts on the Arx A5 tower speakers.
Does anyone else have experience with this speaker or The Audio Insider?

Bought a pair a year and half ago and have been more than pleased with them. Fantastic speakers. Very high quality drivers and stout cabinets. First picked up a pair of Arx speakers back in 2011 and was hooked. Always been a fan of XBL2 tech.

Arx/Dana are merging with Chase to form a new company, Chane I believe. They will be selling off the current inventory of A1-A5 and then reselling them under the new badge. Just an fyi.

Just spoke to Jon from TAI yesterday, who convinced me to buy a pair of A3rx-c's over the A5's due to their musicality and my smaller space (not to mention the 3rd gen ribbon tweeter). Jon confirmed the new website would be going up pretty soon. I told him I prefer the Arx name so I'd better buy them now before they rebrand everything. :D He said they're going to get a lot more serious about marketing now, and that they would have higher price tier products available as well. If they have the same bang for the buck that the current Arx lineup has, I think a pair of $1500 towers from Jon would be absolutely phenomenal.

I'm sure with the Chase name in the mix people will come running...oh... I know he(Craig) has his fanbase & loyal followers but he is not anybody... I would do business with considering the way he has conducted himself in the past...JMO.

Yokken, I think the A3rx-c is a better choice for you if you have a smaller room, I think the A3 was designed with that in mind. I have heard the 3rd Gen tweet and must admit it is very sweet and crisp sounding, in my experience it is best to start with the A3s facing straight ahead and gradually toeing them in with small increments, too much and you lose the imaging, it becomes narrow, you will know when you have it right as the stage really widens and instruments are in their proper position, they really shine when you get this right. The A5 has sheer force and is a brute, it can fill large rooms with ease when properly setup. I believe the biggest upgrade is experimenting with speaker location, it does involve time but no expense and yields wondrous results with both the A5 and A3 and A2 which also are amazing speakers, I have the A2s in a LCR setup now and they absolutely blow me away, I had a MTM monitor setup that I sold but took achance on the new A2 and it payed off in spades, I intended to use them as surrounds but now I'm setting up another 5.1 rig with all A2rx-c's, the A5s are still my speaker of choice and my main setup is built around them and a Triax sub. So if anyone is on the fence with ARX, come over to the other side:D, you'll be glad you did. I see good things coming out of this merger with Jon and Craig and looking forward to some new models especially JON the LAs.................;)
Cheers Jeff

That it will...

I can't say I'm so sure about this move either... But I do like the Arx speakers I have...
I have been wanting to try them out - however, something keeps
holding me back. I am confident that the bookshelf is nice - how
ever, not easy to knock off my higher end speakers. I decided to
go for the JBL first.

I will definitely do some impressions of the A3rx-c's and write a review. There are too few good ones out there!

Compared to your Polks, there are a lot of good ones out there!

Hey now... the Monitor70s are certainly better than the TSi100s I had before! I realize it gets much better, but it's like telling someone who just went from iPod earbuds to some Sennheiser HD280s that their new Sennheisers suck. There are a lot of much better headphones out there, but the Sennheisers are a big jump in quality.

Not to mention, I can't even manage to find an A3rx-c review on Google!

I have been wanting to try the Arx as well, however they really are a bland looking speaker. I would love to see them improve the finish when they rebadge them.

I kept holding off for fear of not being happy with them and losing a ton on shipping both ways. I ended up buying used...

The problem is, there are just too many good speakers out there... We can't stockpile them all (as much as I seem to try at times).

Bland is certainly an accurate description of the looks IMO. Not to mention, the application of the vinyl could be better too.

Your comment was that there are too few good ones out there - and from your other thread
you have not owned many speakers.:)

I have owned a whole lot (many, many) speakers. Your speaker journey is in the early stages.

Now as far as so-called reviews - I eat the fish and spit out the bones - I learn to pick up info
from forum members that I respect.

Enjoy your new adventure.

I've read many more actual reviews of the Polks than I have of the Arx, but I see what you were trying to say there. ;) I researched the hell out of headphones about a year ago and went through multiple amps, DACs, and headphones before I settled on a setup that I loved. I know how the process works... it's easy to wonder how much better something else can be. And then you try to sell off a set, buy a new set, return a set... it's all downhill from there.

I know what you mean about picking up bits and pieces about particular sets or manufacturers -- sometimes there's not a consolidated source of information where someone can get a lot of good information and subjective opinion about sets of speakers. But sadly, I have less time to read through forums than I used to, so it is nice to find actual reviews or full threads on pairs of speakers. Not to mention, a lot of threads seem to devolve into debates about measurements, strengths/weaknesses of types of tweeters/woofers/drivers, that sort of thing.

This is an ongoing adventure... that will probably never end. But I am glad there are plenty more freaks like me. :)
