I think people are missing the larger picture. Baby boomers are dying off; the liberal movement over the last 3 decades. Conservatism is dying and will continue to do so in this country. If the GOP doesn't go moderate, they will be an irrelevant party.
Not even close, a few years back when GB was re-elected people said the same thing about the liberals and they are still here. Things change every few years and that is just the way it goes. Remember Obamas win was not a landslide it was 51% to 49% or %52 to %48 so that basically means that half the country are conservative so to say it is dyeing is just a liberals dream and is not reality.

You're absolutely correct. The thing I've come to understand is that most people like the surface idea of liberalism. Who doesn't want world peace? Who doesn't just want to sit down and talk to those who'd just assume cut your head off and drag your body through the streets and work it all out? Who doesn't want to stop pulluting, eliminate the need for oil, have zero poverty, no hunger, free medicine, legalized drugs, etc, etc. I mean hell, that all sounds good to me too.

The issue arises when those dreams crash head on into reality. I think I may have posted this quote before, but it sums up quite a bit:

WE all dream of a world of happiness, sunshine, and peace

The only problem is half of the people think it is a wonderful place to live in, the other half think it sounds like a wonderful place to pillage. -unknown

I'm friends with all kinds of people and politcs comes up often. I have many friends who are very liberal, love Obama, and all that. They can't usually tell me why they're liberal however. They just are. And as you get to talking, it seems most of their views lean to the somewhat conservative side... usually because it just makes more common sense to most people when you think it through. There are of course those well thought liberals who just have a completely different take on things and that's to be respected, but it seems a lot of liberal or people who call themselves liberal or democrat really aren't so liberal. I think a lot of Democratic politicians are more likable characters. I got a chance to listen to Bill Clinton about 12 years ago and I swear I almost switched parties. Obama is very much the same way. I like the guy a lot, but I think just about everything he believes for this country is wrong. Republicans just don't have a lot of likeable people in that regard... they lack the celebrity and they don't have the mainstream media directly or indirectly advocating individuals or positions.

Conservatism isn't dying, it is the fact that no one represents true conservatives/independents so their vote tends to get spread across Republicrat & Independent/Libertarian candidates.
