Are you giving A/V for Christmas, if so, what?

My brother-in-law is happy with his A/V setup, so I got him some sweet KRK powered studio monitors and sub for his home recording studio. Its just a basement, an maxed out Mac Mini running Garage Band and his killer guitars.

The KRK's are like this:

Biamped power and efficient design at a remarkable price.

The KRK RP-5 Rokit Powered Reference Studio Monitor features a 5" woofer made of a woven glass aramid composite for a tight low-end response. 1" soft-dome tweeter emits natural sounding highs. The RP-5 drivers are electronically crossed over and biamped for increased efficiency. All of this is housed in an attractive KRK cabinet with radiused corners that reduce edge diffraction, resulting in better audio imaging. The monitor's rear input panel has RCA, 1/4" TRS, and XLR connectors.

KRK RP-5 Rokit Powered Reference Studio Monitor Specifications:

* Woofer: 5" glass aramid composite
* Tweeter: 1" neodymium soft dome with ferro fluid
* Input: XLR (3-pin), RCA, and 1/4" TRS - 10k ohm balanced/unbalanced
* Amplification: 75W biamp dynamic power, 18dB octave filters
* Frequency response: 53Hz-20kHz
* Video shielding
* 7-1/4"W x 10-7/8"H x 8-7/8"D
* 16 lbs.

The RP-10S is the ideal low-end companion to Rokit Powered monitors.

The RP-10S 225W subwoofer was designed to deliver an articulate linear bass extension specifically tailored to fit the spectral balance of the Rokit Powered monitors. The RP-10S features a level control, phase switch, and variable filter control as well as the full complement of input options offered on all Rokit Powered monitors.

KRK RP-10S Rokit Powered Subwoofer Specifications:

* Driver: 10" high-excursion, glass aramid composite woofer
* Input: XLR (3-pin), RCA, and 1/4"TRS - 10k ohm balanced/unbalanced
* Amplification: 225W peak power
* 36Hz-150Hz frequency response
* 14"W x 15"H x 15-11/16"D
* 42 lbs.

I'm also giving a friend a pair of Polk monitor 30's and a Emotiva BPA-1 amp for his computer. He's more than a friend, I'm a quadriplegic, and he is the worlds greatest care giver, and he deserves it :)

A pair of MA BR4s for my best friend (a pro musician) and his expecting wife (pediatrician). A pair of MA BR2s for another great friend, an artist. I am rarely or never this generous, but I had a good year, and actually finally know something about such gifts that they can really use and would probably never consider about buying for themselves. (I never know what to buy people. Its almost a blessing to finally know about something they can use). The recipients probably listen to more recorded music than anyone else I know. The family had these 30 y.o. no-name POS's that are not even theirs, and the artist had a crappy boombox that happened to be a downgrade from a different crappy boombox.

I won't go into reasons why, but they all are well-deserving. Let's just say they are generous with their support, and help to keep my mind open, educated, and nourished. And, heck, the samovar I got from Russia for the couple's wedding doesn't work!

Oh yes, and an Xbox for my brother, if only because he is a great cook and has the best stocked bar I may have ever seen :D. Im pretty much done with shopping outside of giving a few calendars out that the artist friend had made for the coming year.

I do not expect to buy such nice gifts for a long while now... so don't ask!
