Are There Any Quality DVD Changers Out There?

I currently have a Toshiba 5-disc changer and I love the convenience of it. I would now like to upgrade and would like to have SACD/DVD Audio capability, HDMI output, and quality audio DACs as well. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thank you, I hope they decide to hold the line on that price. That is everything I'm looking for and then some!

Be careful

I heard the sony (SON DVP-CX985V) changer "grabbed" the dvd when making the transition from holding slot to player and therefore scratched everything it played. Hope this is not the case with the yamaha dvd-c950.

Integra DPC 8.5 looks to be a real winner. With its high resolution 108/12bit and its 192kHz Wolfson DAC's it is said to be a true achievment in the $700 range.

I own the Yamaha DVD C920 the predacessor to the to model you gents are discussing. I recently ran it up against a $1350 Integra DPC 8.3 THX single disc. For sound quality the Integra blew away my Yammi, but the video quality was surprisingly better on the Yamaha with Faroujda processing, go figure. My gripe with the Yami is that it takes a damn long time for it to skip chapters and get its bearings on scenes and loading. In other words its very slow. Otherwise it has provided three years of excellent service with very hard use. I must look into the new yami spinner.

Another option with a little less performance, but at half the price is the Onkyo DV-CP802

The review that I read on the Onkyo were only lukewarm at best. I forget which mag covered it, but, it was reviewed against the Pioneer 578 and a Toshiba single disc universal player as well. I didn't find that very encouraging. I want something a little higher end. Not that I am a snob or anything :p

You'll see this at 499.99 authorized and probably 399.99 unauthorized.

Onkyo CP-802

The 802 is a very nice unit - no HDMI though. Very well built, great sound, good video, six disc feature is nice. The 802 and the 950 seem directly comparable so I would look at both if you can. Good luck.

Where did you get the 950?

I purchased one for $470 shipped.
Where did you find this? Has it arrived? Or they merely accept your order?

Last I checked (a couple weeks ago), the stores didn't have any yet.
