I currently have Yamaha A-S500, Dali Zensor 1, Bowers & wilkins ASW610, and Denon DA-300; Is it worth selling it and buying SENNHEISER HDVD 800 & SENNHEISER HD 800 S combo?
My room is about 17 m2 and it has basic diy acustic tretmant: blankets and plywood.

I use the setup for video games, movies, etc... But most importantly music (rock, jazz, metal, classical...)

So are Sennheiser HD 800 S as good as they say?

And no I can't demo them, at least not without driving for 9 hours.

you do know you're comparing speakers with headphones, don't you?

Yeah I Do LOL, but apparently 800s sound "amazing" and "like speakers" not my words. And I don't have a lot of experience with headphones.

I don't understand that "like speakers" malarkey. Headphones are supposed to sound different than speakers. The spatial clues are entirely different.

I haven't heard them but I'm sure they are excellent. So, what you're basically asking is if a Maserati is worth the money here.

I can't afford 800s without selling speakers that I love. I'm asking if phones could replace them aka sound better.

I was wondering what you were trying to get at when you gave us your room dimensions and treatments in a question about headphones. Headphones offer a very different listening experience and a good pair is a wonderful way to enjoy music. Still, I would not sell my speakers so I could afford a $1,000+ pair of headphones. Especially if you need your speakers for movies and gaming. To me that is the equivalent of selling my car to buy an expensive motorcycle -- what would I do when it rained. Headphones are great for music, but unless I need to be silent, I don't like using them for movies.

If you are interested in headphones, there are a ton of great sounding pair for under $500. The Senn hd 650's are very well regarded, and I can attest to the sound quality of the Senn Momentum and HiFi Man He400i's. If you have a friend with a decent pair of headphones, borrow them for a while and see if you like the headphone experience. Or go to a store with a decent selection and try some out. You can spend a lot less than $1,000 for a very good sounding pair of headphones.

And if all else fails, up your budget and buy these. :)

I don't really need headphones, but i was wondering if they would provide better experience then speakers, that why I listed my room spec. My dac can power headphones below 100 ohm just fine, Yamaha however can't (maybe there is something wrong with mine). I did borrow sennheiser hd598 they sounded more detailed but sound stage was bad especially with older music like Boney M and bass was lacking, I thought that maybe hd 800s would be the best of both worlds, guess I was wrong.

If you want headphones with bass those Fostex I linked should be nice. I havent heard them yet as I'm still waiting for mine.

"Better experience" is way too subjective.

It will be "different".

When you're in a hole, quit digging.
I understand the adrenaline surge when thinking about buying some top-shelf item. But headphones cannot really be compared to speakers. No way I'd do without speakers to get more expensive headphones.
