Aragon Soundstage Questions

As I dive deeper in multichannel audio I have a couple questions which the manual does not seem to address.

1 - I have set the levels for each speaker using the test tone setup. If I listen to the 5.1 analog input via the RS232 connection will these settings affect the sound or are they only for digital processing like dolby digital and DTS?

2 - If I send LFE information via the 5.1 analog input but set up the Soundstage without a subwoofer will it direct the LFE signal to my mains? I have a subwoofer set up at speaker level and not line level so I need the LFE to go to my mains.

If memory serves, there are independent channel calibrations for DD/DTS and the multi channel input so you need to calibrate for both scenarios.

If you set the processor for 5.1 and don't use a sub, the LFE channel will NOT combined back to the mains. You need to go into your DVD player, turn off the sub and make sure you have your processor set for no sub as well and the mains large. I strongly recommend getting a sub however.

That is what I thought but here is a section from the manual "In a system that does not utilize a subwoofer, the low frequency signals (including the LFE channel in Dolby Digital, and DTS) is combined with the large speakers in the system in the analog domain. This eliminates any need for digital domain attenuation when these signals are combined." What I don't know is if this includes 5.1 input.

I have a subwoofer but it is speaker level and my DVD/Blu-Ray source (Oppo BDP-83) does not send the LFE signal if you set up the Oppo saying that you don't have a sub. So, I thought that I could say I have a sub, let the 5.1 signal include the .1 and let the Soundstage combine the LFE signal with the mains. I just don't know if it does that.

If you are sending 5.1 via analog outs of the Oppo to the Soundstage, it will not recombine the sub channel to the mains if you set it to 5.0 b/c it will ignore the sub input. I suggest buying an amp for your sub, making it active and using the sub connection. You will be a lot happier.
