Hey Guys,

Do you have any feedback on how do these amps compare?

Does anyone own an Aragon amp? Please let me know your feedback on the same?

Also, where can I buy Aragon AMPS??

I’m not even sure if Aragon is still made new, so used seems to be your only route.
If I were going to compare them, I would say the Aragon would be more musical, the Emotiva more geared for home theater. Not that either can’t do both, but Aragon was a premier amp during the big “audiophile” stereo music reproduction scene of the 80’s.

Nitin,

A good quality Amp should pass along really good clean power to your speakers. Harmonically, there should be very little to no difference between them. PDawg can attest to this. He's had several different Amps and I believe I've heard him say that he could hear no difference between them..

I'm a big fan so far of Emotiva. I think for the money, the build quality and features make them very nice Amps. For the money, to get balanced and unbalanced inputs, the specs they have and 12v triggers, they are really nice products. Especially for the price.

Aragon was owned by Mondial Designs, which also made Acurus.

The company is dead, so you can only buy USED - and, of course, no warranty.

I have only heard aragon amps in stores years ago so I cant really compare them. But, I can tell you that the Emotiva amps are built like a tank and sound great in my opinion. They have plenty of power and are actually on sale right now. I had an xpa3 and now I have an xpa5 and plan on getting an xpa2 for my towers. For the price and what you are getting you cant go wrong. ;)

I have almost made up my mind to pick up Paradigm Studio 100 V4s. For now I only plan on having these towers and *maybe* add a center channel.

Will XPA-3 suffice for this? Also there is a 10% off right now on them. Or should I wait and go for XPA-5 for future upgradability?

What say you ppl?? :)

I am not saying that, I dislike Emo but it will drive the 100's just fine.

ALWAYS keep an eye on the future. If you know that you are going to expand your speaker collection as the funds become available, then get a 5 channel.

As already posted, Aragon and Acurus are no longer made. These companies were owned by Mondial which was purchased by Klipsch around 199 (?). Aragon continued production for about a year and Acurus for about 2 years. But the quality suffered under Klipsch.

So, anyone looking for an Acurus or Aragon, should make sure they are pre-Klipsch. These amps can usually be found in the Audiogon classifieds. That's where I bought my Aragon 4004 MKII (a great amp for the price).

I do not know how these amps stack up against Emotiva. The AAs were made for stereo only.
