I searched for this thread, so if I'm in the wrong forum, please forgive.
What is the best sequence for power on hdmi devices? I'm wondering if there is a certain order that components need to be turned on in order for the HDCP handshakes to work.
The reason I ask is that last night, I powered on my Xbox first, my receiver was already on but selected to blu-ray as an input source, then my projector. I noticed that my 360 turned itself off. I turned it back on and when I didn't see a picture on my screen I realized that I had it to the wrong input source. When I changed my receiver to Xbox 360's input source, then I saw the Xbox 360 splash screen show up.
However, when using the xbox for games and movies, I was getting no sound through my center speaker. I checked the test tones through the receiver's menu and I was able to get sound. Even when I streamed movies I got no sound through the center speaker. The receiver's display showed that there was a 5.1 signal present. I double checked the settings on the xbox and it was set to digital audio.
So I turned off the Xbox and then the receiver, then turned on the receiver first, then turned on the Xbox, and then everything was working fine.
