aperion vs def techs

Every Lab is different. Every room is different. Even the SPL meters differ. You will not find the exact same numbers. If you had 10 labs, you get 10 different numbers.
That's why they say specs are just one part of the whole story.
Exactly. And with Def Tech BP10Bs (for example), listening proves that they have extremely deep, powerful bass, whatever the exact numbers may be.

When I read the INDEPENDENT speaker review by Julian Hirsch & Stereo Review that the BP10s could do 20Hz-20kHz +/-5dB @ 90dB w/m, I knew I just had to own a pair, especially at such a great price.
If Def Tech had said that these babies could go to 20Hz @ -5dB, would anybody believe them? Nope!

Yeah, by the way, I just ordered a pair of these BP10Bs brand new from my DT dealer for $700.:D
I am truly insane! That's all I can say.:D
Just for curiosity, I will hook them up as Full Range Front L + R to see how they sound. After hours of butt-kicking workout, I will then let them rest as Side Surround speakers, which is seriously overkill and crazy.:)

We all know the most important speakers are the Main Front Left and Right. Next is the Center speaker. Then the Surround speakers. But which Surround speakers are more important? Side Surround or Rear Surround?

You really are a mad man... as far as which surrounds are more important, I would say for your setup, the side surrounds are more important since you aren't using a PLIIx decoder.

I have heard systems in which the surrounds are as good as the mains (or nearly so) and systems with great mains and much lower quality surrounds. Frankly, I was hard-pressed to hear much difference. I think that almost all of the "character" of the sound is provided by the mains (and center if you use one), with the surrounds only providing directional cues.

Yeah, I think so too: I am a MAD man, and the SIDE surrounds are more important. So I'll be using two BP10Bs for the Sides and four SM450s for the Rears.

I just watched a few scenes of that cheesy Canadian werewolf movie "Skinwalkers" last night just to check out how the Trinity Sub would do.

OMG!

Goosebumps! (bite finger)

Thank you, Lord! Than you!

It's kind of SAD because it's only a Standard Def DVD, and it has more SATISFLYING BASS than any Blu-ray or HD DVD movies I can think of!!!
