Martin Logan is American. They're based in Kansas.
My bad on Martin Logan. At least I removed Usher (Taiwan) from my British list before hitting submit.

I consider $1500 to be high for a Cambridge Audio receiver with no HDMI and no video processing. However, I don't play in the separates space.

I can understand Britain, Japan and even Canada being audio experts. However, I have to ask what is up with all the Utah companies (e.g., RBH, Wilson, etc.)? (I'm leaving Kentucky alone.)

I have occasionally seen Tannoys on E-bay (and of course Audiogon). So, there may be deals to be had.

Yeah, but Cambridge is much better known for their integrateds than receivers. You can get a brand new one for about $300. Again, I find that their reputation is that they are affordable, and not so much overpriced. And, btw, an integrated is not considered as separates. CA has finally introduced some separates, and I'm wondering if its their very first time.

I guess Im saying that your generalizations are misconceived, IMO. Sure, any products you listed CAN be pricey, but you can say that about nearly any AV manufacturer. Do I say that Denon is p-r-i-c-e-y because I need to pay over $3,000 to find a receiver with any VP better than Faroudja?

Meridian and Cambridge in the same sentence is funny. Even NAD, Rotel, and Outlaw are all more expensive than Cambridge, and the first three are already known as audiophile stuff at acceptable values or prices. I can name a whole bunch, and I do mean a whole bunch, of companies that are WAAAAAY more expensive than even NAD/Rotel/Outlaw... let alone CA.

Castle Acoustics is also a good affordable British company. I got to hear their small bookshelf speakers in a bedroom setup hooked up to a Linn all-in-one 5.1 receiver and they sounded superb. IMO sounded better than the B&W 600 series bookshelves and the whole 5.1 set including sub only cost $1100.
