Hunting animals for food is stupid when you can just wait for your neighbor to go off to work and then go raid his fridge. I want to move next to Darien because I believe he might be more heath conscious ... you know how those California people are always on some diet to make themselves live longer. :)

It's understandable that some may not understand or like hunting.
Though there are valid reason that the Dept of the Interior / Fish & Game allow it.

The biggest reason is to control populations that don't self regulate.
Yeah, I've heard that argument and I get it. I could just never get myself to kill an animal. Hypocritical I know since I'll eat the hell out of a nice Filet Mignon. :D

Hunting's not for me, but I won't get in the way of someone else that wants to do it. I just think it's pretty unfair when you can shoot a deer from 100 yards away.

Makes sense doesn't it? We spend all this time and money buying "healthy" foods and going to the gym just to extend the last five years of your life when you can hardly walk and can't even go to the bathroom when you want to.

That's quite the nature show you've got going on in your yard. I like this one the best.

Deer's probably like, "Beat it you little punk!"

And 18 degrees?!?!?! We've been *****ing about how it's been in the 40's at night here lately.

Heheheh funny, I only snatched that pic off the SD card, but if you watch through the cycle, they actually go a bit round and round... and in another time frame you can watch the moon going up in the sky....

Just snapped some pics of the backyard, which I'll post up after my nice fatty Ribeye dinner, marinated with chicago steak seasoning, Worcestershire, and a coffee ground rub.... Mmmm so yummy... Grillin out tonight and its 20 degrees... a few snow flurries this eve.... Can't wait for the first snow.. !!!

Ok heres some shots of the backyard, gives ya an idea of the lighting and proximity of the cam to the house....

A little dark but you get the idea.... :)
The deer cam is on that 4x4 in the first pic I stuck in the ground that I used for the hanging tomato plants, which didn't work all that well...

Just saw this thread. I have been hunting all my life, but just took up bow hunting in 2009. Got 2 deer with it last bow season, and took 2 this year as well. My wife and daughter love venison and it takes us about 4 deer to eat it as much as we like throughout the year. It's been a good season so far and I've taken 2 more with the rifle. All does, as I'm picky about bucks and we have way too many does on our property. I was lucky enough to inherit 120 acres in west Alabama that used to be my Grandparents farm. It's a beautiful piece of land and brings back so many good memories every time I'm there. Great thread and good pictures, Warp.

I used to do archery in college and for a while afterwords. The local gun range even has an archery area to shoot at.

After 3 shoulder surgeries on the same shoulder, my compound at 52 pounds is all I can do. No way to pull 70 plus on a traditional with no let off, but it would be cool.

edit: Looking at the Martin site, there are some with very reasonable draw weights.
