denon avr-2805 remote questions, please reply. I have just installed my receiver, but am having trouble with the remote selecting the different sources of video.

The yellow "number" buttons on the remote control the video switching. For instance, I think that button '4' gets it to DVD. Try operating the knob on the left of the receiver--is it switching at all? If so, and the yellow buttons are not working, then it could be a problem with the remote.

I have a 2805, (which I'm really happy with), but if you want to switch ONLY video source, not both audio and video together, you have to do it on the front panel of the receiver. There is a small button below the source switching dial on the left side of the receiver labeled "video select". If you have selected a combined audio/video source, say "DVD", and want to switch the video source while continuing to listen to the same audio source, then you have to depress the "video select" button, then rotate the dial to your desired video input. If you want to switch audio and video combined, then the yellow number buttons on the remote do that, just make sure you have the "amp" mode button on the remote selected. Hope this helps.

How long did it take you to get the 2805 "reasonably" up and running? I purchased one today but I don't want to be without a properly working system for Daytona weekend.

setup time for 2805

I guess that would depend on how much wiring, etc. you have to do for your speakers. As far as getting it up and running after all connections are made, maybe 15 minutes. It's not very complicated. The manual is sometimes not the clearest, but really it's not rocket science. If you want to do it automatically, connect the microphone that comes with it, postion the mike where your head would be at your listening position, hit "system setup" on the remote, go to "auto", and let it do it's thing. If you want to use a Radio Shack SPL meter to tweak or fine tune, the menus are easy to use. It was a little easier for me, because I was at work in the field and had the owners manual in PDF format for about a month before I even laid eyes on my receiver, so I had read it about 50 times. :) PM me if you have any detailed questions.

WoodieB...got any idea why I can't get the on screen programming to display??? Also on the mode dial on the receiver when I select vcr for example. the audio won't work unless the dial is set to another source like dbs.

When you go to system setup, do you get no on screen display at all? With any video source? I know the individual displays like volume, etc. only display if you are using a composite or S-Video source, but the on screen display for setup should display with component connections, which is what I am using. As for the audio part, if you are using digital audio inputs, are they assigned correctly?
If not, are you certain the VCR's audio output is connected to the proper INPUT terminals on the receiver? Remember that the VCR has both in and out, so check to be sure. I know in my setup it's a b***h to get to the back of the receiver once it's in place, so it's easy to cross connect if you're not careful.

WoodieB, I am not using s-video, but I am not getting anything to display on the TV

while in programming mode or anything...not even chanel selection on TV...I have also hooked up a video cable to my tv input to the video monitor out in the receiver. I have double checked the connections once on the vcr, but will move everything again and recheck.
