Anyone know anything about Mini Disc?

Anybody in here still use MiniDiscs? I'm asking because I have a fantastic library of mini discs that I'd like to get back into. I have European stuff recorded like Pearl Jam early sessions and Smashing Pumpkins concerts.

Literally in the mid 90's when I was on the USS New Orleans I ran around with a portable DVD with an optical out and a mini disc player recording hundreds of hours of music. I'd like to get my library spinning again.

I know that the ones to get are the series that are over the MDS-JE500 and above as they have digital output. But now I'm aware of the MDS E series. This is the pro line. Is the sound quality better?

You had better hurry. This medium is all but extinct. I think Sony might still be making one player.

This format introduced by Philips/Sony in 1992 never really took off and was used mainly by journalists for recoding on the go. They are now going under to flash drive reorders,

You have a lot to archive and need something stable and reliable.

I would snap one of these pro Tascams up right away. Price is $550. I bet when they are gone they will be the last.

I can't comment on newer MD deck quality, since mine are years old and haven't been used in quite some time...I did like my portable JVC player though. I accidentally hit it with a metal pole once and dented it quite badly and it still worked great :D

I'm finding that a tiny contingent of fans still use these. Haven't locked into a player on ebay just yet.

My CD portable is the Sony D-303 with the optical out. I found out that is a rare collectible because of the digital out.

Bumping this, just to see if I find other enthusiasts.

I just bought a 1,200 disc collection. I am in Music Nirvana!
