Anyone know a good online place to buy decent quality cables?

I'm starting to layout my home theater system and one thing I need to find is a good online source for cables. I've been told by a friend at Best Buy that the company makes very little on flat screens and other big ticket items, and makes alot of money on cables and accessories. Anyway, cables add up, and I want to find a cheaper place than an audio store or Best Buy.

Specifically, I'm just looking for speaker wire and an HDMI cable (a long one, like 15' from my projector to receiver).

Is it important to get a decent quality HDMI cable when it gets to be 15 feet long?

Thanks

Yep, I'm guessing just about everyone is going to send you to Monoprice. Cheap cables that are just as good as anything else on the market.

I disagree. Bluejeans cable is also very good and cheap.

Monoprice is the way to go! I bought plenty of audio and video cables from them over the years and never a problem. Tests prove monoprice hdmi cables are every bit as good or better than monster and other brands and cost less. Here's a link to the gizmodo test, its a good read to understand more about hdmi cables in general.. http://m.gizmodo.com/site?t=eMug.kwq0CMl2HV3eAtwHQ&sid=gizmodo

No. We'll also discuss BlueJeansCable. Their prices are higher (actually, very similar on HDMI), but their gear is better.

And by better I mean the cables are more flexible and the connectors more secure. I have a problem with my monoprice coaxial connectors pulling free when I move a component because the cable tension (inflexability) is high and the connector grip is low.

I would call cables from monoprice and bluejeans inexpensive rather than cheap.

I've never had a problem with any of my Monoprice cables. I looked at Bluejeans too when I was looking to buy just could justify the price difference. I don't move my equipment much if at all so I don't have any problems with that.

A month or two back you'll find a thread I started on the interconnects section of the forum. I had gotten my HDMI cables from BlueJeans and went back for coaxials. I was surprised to find that they were noticeably more expensive. I started a thread and someone from BJC replied (US-made cable with US-made connectors attached in US (their coaxial) was more expensive than US-made cable with Chinese connectors attached in china (their HDMI)).

That made sense, but I decided to go monoprice to save a noticeable amount of money.

I got a dozen or so cables. The optical cables I got from monoprice have been terrific. The component video cables, in addition to being rather stiff, have a tendency to pull themselves off their connectors (detach from whatever component they are attached to). This is only really an issue when I move stuff around.. .it's not like the spontaneously detach; but it is not a problem I have with my other coaxial cables (some AR and Monster that I picked up from Best Buy's open boxless bin cheap).

Maybe I just got from a bad batch of connectors. I don't know. I doubt I'll ever again need another coaxial cable anyway.

Better to call them not unnecessarily expensive as many audiofool quality interconnects and cables are in order to ward off invented sonic demons and lead the innocent astray into credit card debt
