I'm going to be spliting up my two cabinets to make four in the next two weeks

After some experimenting with my new OM system from PE and a couple extra subs i can easily see the improvements multi sub placement around the room can do.

I'll be using a MiniDSP to configure all four subs at their new positions. The Mini will have to do a LT for each sub, delay, XO, and gain....

This all started after reading the Harmon white paper Welti and Devantier did......Thoughts ?

Here's a pic of the Dayton 12"/ Dayton 240 i built to do the initial experiment with. I now feel the 12" driver is a compromise due to size.

Here's a graph showing how the Aux sub filled in the hole, but the response was not across the whole listening position and i would rather use my 15" Tumults around the room instead of the 12's..... When the sweeps approached 105db the 12's showed some signs of audible distress

Those boxes look pretty large to not be horns. That said multisub placement helps, but isn't necessary for good lfe.

^^^^ yup, he does a corner with three total. Welti/Devantier uses four, i will begin with four subs quarter wall placement... I'm gonna need some serious help with the MiniDSP....

I prefer the 4 corners approach if you have the room for it. A sub in every corner does wonders for a response. :D

^ That's where I would start if you already have four subs.

The hard part is dialing in the LT and delay so Audyssey doesnt screw it up.

.....and while we are at it, where do i begin when setting these up. Farthest one away from the LP first. I gotta buy my MiniDSP tonite and get it loaded up in the Laptop. My plan would be to have OM and the MiniDSP onscreen at the same time.

Going to the mill tomorrow to check out the saw that will be doing the surgery, this is pretty exciting stuff

Ok, splitting the subs cabinets isnt going to happen. I have to continue on with the Aux Sub project as planned. I moved my big subs around to see if there was any other place that could offer a flat response....Nope.

Put the monsters back front and center, and now its back to Lowes to get some MDF and build my other two cabinets. I pulled subs from my other HT's and placed them midwall sides and back, Presto, flat across the LP.....

Back to work
