Anyone heard of Polk PSW100 sub?

I have an older Polk Audio sub model PSW100. That's correct, it's PSW100 and not PSW10. I would like to know the specs on it and if someone has/had this sub, if they could tell me how good/bad it is. There is no grill whatsoever to take off. The whole unit is solid wood with a down firing port on the bottom. I can't even tell what size the subwoofer is. Also on the back, I have controls for volume, crossover frequency and also phase (normal, reverse). Thanks in advance!

Are you shure?

That is a tough one to find, here is the info I have found on it:

The driver is a MW8300, and the Crossover is a RF5011-1(amp)

Good Luck, you might want to just call up polk and ask for a manual.

Yeah, I tried looking on the web and on Polk Audio's site. I have it sitting right next to me and it says Polk Audio PSW100. If it helps, this sub was part of a package. It was called either RM6000 or RM7000. It came with 2 satellite speakers, 1 center, 1 sub. I would like to get the specs for all the speakers, but most importantly the sub. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for the help, but I guess I have the RM7000. My package only included 1 center, 2 front satellites and 1 sub. This is a 4 speaker package. It does not include the rear surround speakers. Plus, the pictures from the manual are different than my speakers. Again, thanks for your effort. Anyone here can help me with this?

Polk PSW100

Hello,

I have a Polk PSW 100 subwoofer also. You are correct that is is extremely difficult to find info on it. I contacted Polk Audio and here is the info they sent me. It has an 8 inch driver, with a 65 watt amplifier. It has an overall frequency response of 22 to 200 HZ, and -3 db limits of 31 to 150. It has an adjustable low pass filter from 50 to 150 HZ and a polarity adjustment of 0 and 180 degrees.They were produced from 1994 to 1996 and sold for $550.00
when produced.
I was using this subwoofer along with 3 Polk RM series II rear surrounds, a Polk RM Series II center channel, and a pair of DCM 16 tower speakers for my fronts. I had this system hooked up for about 18 months, until about a month ago when I switched over to a Klipsch system. The PSW 100 sub and the Klipsch KSW 10 sub sound about the same. Hope this helps.

lol OLD post I still have my RM7000 system and it sounds great. I bought Polk M3 on Ebay for $50/pair and I run 4 of them in 7.1. Oh and the RM7000 retailed for about $1250 in mid- 90's. The little satellites in the granite-like enclosures RULE. You can still find them in good shape on Ebay. M3's are still there too.

Ya, I had a pair of the M3's. Gave them to a buddy years ago and he's still using them in his spare bedroom. Crazy strange design, obviously built to go the distance.

I used to work for a small appliance, furniture, and electronics company back in the mid to late 90’s and when we started carrying Polk Audio speakers, it was a game changer. I purchased and still have the RM7000 with the psw100 and the magnetically shielded center and satellites (to protect the tube televisions of the day, the 40” Mitsubishi was the king back then). I still use the psw100, it sounds great today, and I sold my best friend a psw150 back then and it is still keeping up with the latest technology. You get what you pay for. Good stuff.

Oh yeah I remember Mitsubishi Diamond series RP’s. They were the standard!
Wow have times changed. Case in point is the Polk psw100. It is definitely NOT keeping up with anything, nor is it good stuff. Get what you pay for is right.

Believe it or not I actually had one of those to add to my monitor 60s. Never even set it up as I sold the polks to a friend and bought my Infinity P363s. I always wonder how it would have sounded with the 60s.

I think it depends on the topic and conversation. Some sort of equation that incorporates the resolution of the topic, the inverse proportion of side chatter, and the exponential value of it's audioholic worth. You'll need to account for c and the F3 of the bullsh!t*log...

Or... just decide if the Threadsurection post is pertinent in any way to enriching life. Subtract 5 points if its a first post from a newb. Subtract 10 if it is noob.

And start drinking.
