Upper management is sometimes very strange and far from attitudes of regular hard working people.....

I remember when Texas / Plano based EDS got a new CEO some 9 - 10 years ago... he started out by doing some cut in costs... what did he do..... well he sold 4 of the 7 corporate jets that EDS owned.... so why in the first place would a software company need 7 corporate jets?

When EDS wanted to create a new corporate head office for Southeast Asia and Australia, where do you think they located this.... yes, in Hawaii. Very very very far from the region that they were heading, but a very nice place for the corporate leaders to stay with their families :eek::eek:
There is no way I can see a reason from a business point of view for such a decision...

So is any major company different, what are the priorities of corporate management, to live a good life for themselves?, or......??????:rolleyes:

I hope it's the second part of my above question that is prevalent.....

You know, I don't begrudge the excess of corporate managment. You can argue whether those in charge are worth the millions of dollars they get, but at the same time, it's not different or worse than professional athletes who make $50mm for doing a lot less and typically leading a not so stellar life in spite of their fortune. It comes down to what the market will bear. If someone, the owners of a franchise or the board and stockholders of a corporation, are willing to pay the sums, than so be it.

I'm not defending the culture, it's a bit twisted and when you're the head of a struggling company that's failing... you ought to lead by example and give the luxeries. The corporate jet thing is often misunderstood. These guys travel the world meeting with the most important business people around... the jet is often times a necessity. I don't even mind abusing the priviledge, but it's the blatant abuse in the face of such times and the absolute reluctance to even see it or even acknowledgement of it once it pointed out.
