As a rule (there are exceptions), bookshelf speakers image better than floorstanders because the source of the sound (the drivers) are closer together.
The advantage associated with multiple woofers is higher efficiency.
I'm not familiar with the Motions, but I do remember a review stating that they did not really hit their stride until they were turned up fairly loud. Depending on your listening habits, this could be an issue.

Note that even though they are bookshelf speakers, the Sierras go 20Hz lower than the M-L Motions.
The problem with the Sierras is that if you don't like them, it will cost you about $35 to $40 to ship them back (within 30 days).
