I am thinking of buying an SVS 16-46 CS passive sub. It will be run by an Ashly Audio amplifier (FTX 1501) that puts out 185 watts @8ohm and 275 @ 4ohmsin stereo mode and 300 watts @8 ohms and 475 watts @ 4 ohms when bridged. The sub is a 12 incher. Will the amplifier be enough to run it and will this sub be suficient for an almost 3000 cubic foot rooms. Maybe 2 of these subs will do the trick? Thanks.

I am pretty sure that it will be able to drive it and fill the room. But, you could certainly call SVS and they will give an honest answer:D

email techsupport@svsound.com (they may all be busy with CES)...

but yeah, the amps SVS pairs with the NSD driver are all under 400 watts so you should have plenty of power.

Thing is, the 16-46 is not as efficient as the other size cylinders due to it's low tune -- if there's any way you can afford to, get the 16-46 Plus unpowered cylinder instead -- your bridged amp power would be a good match with the Plus driver and you will appreciate the extra output

Is it 3000 cubic feet total or does it open into other areas?

The room is 3000 cubic feet with the open space. Tha's counting the kitchen and nook area. I will email svs and see what they say. Yeah I can buy the plus if it will fill the room better.
