I just bought one (and will hook it up tonight) sight unseen based off some internet praise.

Has anyone had experience with this model? Good for HT? Music too? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I am upgrading from a 5 year old BIC America 1210 (I think that is the model#) so I expect improvement, but I would love to hear if anyone else has experience with this model!

WOW, What a Sub!!!!

This thing is so friggen awesome. It uses two 10 inch subs with one powered and the other passive and moving opposite the powered sub in a piston like fashion (design called SLAPS- Symmetrically Loaded Audio Passive System). I do not have a SPL meter or any test equipment, but positioned in the corner of my room this bad boy is putting out cleaner, lower bass, than I have ever heard (room approx 13x17). I simply cannot imagine the output levels of their 12-18' models.

Not a great movie, but the train starting to chug in The Polar Express is great at showing off the Earthquake’s attributes. The Matrix scene where Neo saves Trinity while the chopper flies into the building was also stellar.
It is spectacular with music because it is so tight, responsive, and totally without sluggishness, i.e. - it does a d@mn sight more than rumble loudly.

The sub leaves a small footprint and in Cherry (vs. Black) there was a much higher WAF. These can be picked up for $325-350 plus $50 shipping on eBay and I highly recommend picking one up if your looking for a powered subwoofer in the sub-$500 range.

All my movies DEMAND to be watched again (though the 46' Toshiba DLP upgrade from a 27' RCA demanded that anyway).:D

No dealers here either...

I bought it off eBay because the guy selling them had a lot of feedback, all of which was positive. I believe he sells numerous model sizes too. Heck he even had a code posted with the auction that saved me $25, which was half the shipping, so he was a great guy to work with.

Not a bad little investment to test the line and I am awestruck at the price to performance ratio of this sub. I'm not sure if it was my head cold, but the sub was almost disorienting; I can only compare it to the pressure changes you feel in an airplane.

Definitely the best $325 I have ever spent on my HT! I'll post a few updates as I continue to tweak the positioning, bass management, etc...

Last summer, I went to the first ever warehouse sale put on by an internet and catalog sales company headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI.

As soon as I walked in, I saw this Earthquake Supernova MK V-15 for sale for $100.

This is a sub that originally sold for $2600. For $100.

Turns out that the D-class amp's auto-on sensor doesn't always work (but easily corrected by unplugging and then plugging it back in... an inconvenience I can put up with when I save roughly 95%).

Anyhow, this puppy comfortably drops down to 15 Hz. You actually feel the pressure of low notes.

It's quick, musical, gets almost frighteningly low, and adds a physical presence to music and movies. AMAZING.

I bought a 10" from a friend here to give to my brother and I have to say I was less than impressed. It is a decent sub for the used prices they are selling for, but it isn't competition for higher end subs IMO.

Congrats on the new sub!!

Earthquake makes a great sub & are extremely underated IMO. I am running dual Earthquake MiniMe P12 & they also have the SLAPS radiator. They are very powerful & tight. I love them & i also love how not many people have experience with them. Kinda a cool little secret. I recommend them highly. Your 10" is a beast but yes you should experience their 12" or even their 15"....just nuts!!!

Well enjoy!!! You got a great sub as you already know!!
