Anyone have any experience with NHT, SVS, HSU?

I have been shopping around for some new speakers. The big box retailers around me seem to only deal with Def tech, energy, some Klipsch

I spoke to aperion, NHT, SVS, and HSU about some systems but was curious how their speaker systems are.

I have the Hsu speakers and really enjoy them, they are very powerful bookshelf speakers, you can't go wrong with those. I have heard a lot of good things about NHT speakers too, and the Aperion 6B's look like pretty solid bookshelf speakers, they have a good sale going on with those right now. In this same class, check out Ascend Acoustics and Infinity Primus speakers. You might also give the Behringer 2030p/2031p speakers a look, they are incredible bang for the buck speakers.

I am trying to do floor standers for my fronts. This would be a 5.1 system for movies and games. Not much music at all.

I've owned the NHT SuperZero/SW2P system, and I thought they sounded great.

Agree with AcuDefTechGuy. Also NHT M-00 is a small powered monitor that rocks.
I like the NHT speakers - good bang for the buck.

I spoke to them and sent them a sketch of my room and they are suggesting the absolute 5.1t system for my living room. I wonder how this would work with one of the subs I am considering in my other thread

http://www.nhthifi.com/NHT-Absolute-5-1T-System
Absolute Tower: 2 each
Absolute Zero: 2 each
Absolute Center: 1 each
Classic Ten Subwoofer: 1 each

I am also strongly considering the Aperion 4T-CB Hybrid SD system without the sub

The subs i am looking at are
HSU VTF-2 MK3
SVS PB12-NSD
Epik Legend when it comes out or stepping it up and going with the Empire.

I'd choose the
1) NHT (10 " sub)
2) Aperion including their (Dual 8 ") sub
3) mix and match - never liked the ideea IF I can avoid.

With 1) or 2) you have the advantage of "same look/ they look good togheter" which to me it matters.

Also try talking to NHT to replace to 10" sub with a 12" one and you're done :) OR talk to Aperion to throw in a 12" instead of dual 8"
You might have to pay 100$-150$ but still you'll be in the 2k$ budget :)

I can upgrade the sub with the aperion system to whatever i want. it comes with the bravus 8d which they say will work but they said if i want more bass i can upgrade to the 10d. I could also do the 8d and and a second in the future. I like the idea of staying with the same company as well but it seems there are much better subs for the money.

I don't think you get "much better subs fomuch better subs for the money the money" ...
At this price both NHT and Aperion are competitive. You know that somewhere "they" (anybody) have to make a compromise for the price point...
My 2c.
Again - I'd get NHT + 12 inches sub or Aperion with 12 inches sub. I know NHT and Aperion - sell high quality and have very good customer service.
