I will look at the RC 10's as well.
If you haven't stumbled onto it, have a look
here. They're brilliant bookshelf speakers.
I have not bought the receiver or speakers yet. I do however have the Pioneer Elite 1140 Plasma screen. The size of the room is 14 feet wide, 18 feet deep with the main sitting area approx 11 1/2 feet from the screen. Would the RC 10's do a good job filling this space.
The RC-10's with a good sub should be very nice. The minis would be strained and require such a high crossover to combat that strain that your subwoofer would end up being very localizable.
I am not an audiophile by any means I just want nice sound nothing that will make me go deaf.
RC-10's with an RC-LCR would be my first pick. RC-10's with a Mini-centre and a centrally-located subwoofer could be made to work well as well. Mini's everywhere would, IMHO, end up with a shriller, strained sound as you tried to get the little 4.5" woofers to fill your 2000+ cubic foot room.
I will most likely be purchasing either Energy or Mirage as I have a contact in the business
Which is a great idea for the speakers. My only comment was that for less money, SVS or HSU will provide you with a more capable subwoofer. The sub is a very crucial piece of the sound and is what will fill the room that sense of presence while using small speakers.
