Anybody used the new Energy RC-Mini

These speakers were just released in June. For a small speaker they look pretty good and can handle 150Watts RMS.
Has anybody tried them yet? I am thinking about buying 4 plus an RC Mini center channel.

The RC-Mini's were released in January of 2006, so about a year-and-a-half ago. They're a wonderful speaker for what they are. What they are, of course, is extremely small. I think they're awesome for surround speakers.

Have a look at this review.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I had been trying to find a review on them but was coming up empty. That review will help. My goal is to buy four, plus a mini center and either and 8.3 or 10.3 sub to complete my home theatre. All married up to a Yamaha RX-v2700.
I think this combination will sound and look great.

In a very small room, a den, or even a smaller bedroom I would say that you're alright. In a typical living room I would say that the minis will struggle to fill it up with sound. They can't move a lot of air, they're just too small. The 2700 is way too much receiver for a mini system in my opinion. You'll never be able to hear the receiver's full quality through the minis (who's limits will be reached with a receiver of much less expense). If you're wanting to stay small, I would strongly recommend buying some RC-10's for the front left/right. They're not that much more expensive than the minis but bring a much bigger sound. Don't be afraid to look at non-Energy subs either as you can get better for cheaper with SVS or HSU.

I agree with that. Both wood veneers are gorgeous and the minis do black right with the high-glass piano finish (as opposed to the other RC models which have a positively hideous black ash finish).

Room size

Thanks again. I will look at the RC 10's as well. I have not bought the receiver or speakers yet. I do however have the Pioneer Elite 1140 Plasma screen.
The size of the room is 14 feet wide, 18 feet deep with the main sitting area approx 11 1/2 feet from the screen.
Would the RC 10's do a good job filling this space. I am not an audiophile by any means I just want nice sound nothing that will make me go deaf.

I will most likely be purchasing either Energy or Mirage as I have a contact in the business

If you haven't stumbled onto it, have a look here. They're brilliant bookshelf speakers.

The RC-10's with a good sub should be very nice. The minis would be strained and require such a high crossover to combat that strain that your subwoofer would end up being very localizable.

RC-10's with an RC-LCR would be my first pick. RC-10's with a Mini-centre and a centrally-located subwoofer could be made to work well as well. Mini's everywhere would, IMHO, end up with a shriller, strained sound as you tried to get the little 4.5" woofers to fill your 2000+ cubic foot room.

Which is a great idea for the speakers. My only comment was that for less money, SVS or HSU will provide you with a more capable subwoofer. The sub is a very crucial piece of the sound and is what will fill the room that sense of presence while using small speakers.

I normally agree, but if you can find the 399 deal on the Mirage S12, I think that is money well spent also. Within the same range of the PB-10.
