Hmmm...you really shouldn't lose anything by using an optical cable. I assume you have been all through your TV's audio settings to make sure some no compression or processing is being applied to the signal.
Pretty sad if a modern Smart TV is causing the signal to become worse. I'm not sure a poor connection/bandwidth would compromise the signal vs pausing the playback until the buffer reloaded.

Sweet aquarium/cabinet! The lighting is really fine!

Wish I could put a finger on it, but wouldn't put it past LG to have issues in sound LOL.
Thanks, the stand and light were all DIY with no plans per say. Just a quick sketch
and customize to fit equipment and so on. On the canopy, I bought 4 three light fixtures
and laid them out on the floor and built around that. Cut all the wires, and joined the back
light, with the front light…like : jumper connected and on its' own 12/2 wire to a controller.
I had 6 such connections, for a total of 12, like ::: ::: now with such a setup on a controller
now I have sunrise and sunset and also had lunar lighting, it was pretty cool.
So after the Mrs had an unfortunate diagnosis of cancer 2 yrs ago this Spring, I decided
to ditch the reefing hobby she had no care for, and get into HT, something we both enjoy.
I've been selling quite a bit of equipment on ebay to help fund my quest here.
It's still quite the learning curve. Thanks for the kind words.

Sorry to hear about your wife, hope she does well and your relationship is strengthened by the experience. I'm sure she appreciates your thoughtfulness. It is not easy to give up such a hobby!
You might post about your disappointment with the LG's sound in the appropriate forum.
Best case, someone knows how to fix it.
Worst case you will know it is simply the TV and you can co-rant with some fellow LG owners!;)

I think I might need to re-word my statement. It may not be a quality issue
rather a voltage out from TV issue requiring me to increase the MV control significantly.

I cannot increase the TVs output when using optical out. The TV volume is defunct
until I switch back to TV speaker in sound mode on the TV. I have not yet tried adjusting the TV volume
prior to switching the sound out yet, but I really doubt that would affect anything.
