Any point in getting a VHS VCR with component outputs to view on a 50" HDTV?

Especially compared to a upconverted DVD thru DVI, a VHS tape looks pretty bad using a composite connection. Would the picture improve much if I were to get a VCR with component connection? Or, should I just leave the tapes for the 27" TV and forget about watching them on the bigger screen?

......I have seen a marked difference through the years with S-VHS machines using S-VHS tapes....the only drawback is a recording can only be played on an S-VHS machine if recorded on one, and S-VHS tape is used....the image quality is actually much better, though......

I want to view "regular" pre-recorded VHS tapes (movies). I don't think those are S-VHS. Any point in getting a VCR with a component output in this case?
Thanks!

Do they even make a VCR with component output? And if so what's the point? I believe you will see a slight improvement using regular tapes on an S-VHS machine with the S-Video cable. But whatever you do it's still not going to come close to DVD quality. Instead of spending the money on another machine use that money to replace a few of your favorite movies on VHS in DVD.

I've never heard of a VCR with component outs. The best I know of is JVC's S-Video S-VHS players (and the 9911 is on my to-get list)--and they seem to be the only ones left on the market, everything else ultra cheapie stuff.

JVC D-VHS. Component out and optical-out. Compatible with VHS and S-VHS.

Really? I though it wasn't compatible. You learn something new every day.

I didn't know that either. But that would be an expensive way to watch crappy looking VHS movies. Again, I'd spend the money on DVD's and leave the VCR in the closet.

Yes, it works. I have the JVC DH40000U. Eventhough it works I never use it cuz it takes up a precious component input on my Denon 3805. HD receiver, DVD and DVD recorder uses up the 3 component inouts. I'll use it in the future if I go HDMI route.
