I'll beat a dead horse. Acoustical treatments. They will actually give you more flexibility in speaker placement. You do not want reflections from the front wall direcly hitting the panels. Also, if your listening position is near the rear wall, the "quick" reflections will appear more like distorted smearing than ambience. So, there are those who treat the rear walls too.

The ML stat owners who like to have a more severe toe-in are actually pretty rare. Id say 1 out of 10, if not a lot less. Some peope shine a flashlight (or even better would be the laser-pointers) so that from seated position, you are hitting the inside 1/3 of the panel. The flashlight, coupled with a mirror and helping hand, can also help find you the reflection points in the room. Of course, IMO, using the ears is best.

I have 6 large broadband bass traps covering the wall in front. It helped a lot. Its a lot "tighter". Imaging has improved a bit, not quite as much as I hoped, but the definition is what seems to be most improved. For lack of better words.

Just FYI, while many audiophiles have good success with diffusers, it seems that stats owners have not. Im using all High Frequency Mondo Traps from real traps that I bought from Audiogon.
