Any iPod experts Here?

Ipod touch 6th gen will not connect to iTunes, let alone sync. It just doesn't show up. Windows 11 desktop with iTunes 10, which is very old. I hate the look and functions of anything newer. This version synced fine before. Tried restarting the computer and restoring the iPod.
I have another 6th gen ipod touch. Both are 32g with a different set of tunage. LP's only. The way I tell them apart is one is white, one is black.
So with "prevent from syncing automatically" checked, I tried the other ipod. I cannot allow it to sync with the desktop as it belongs to my laptop's iTunes. Anyways, that iPod is not recognized on the desktop computer either. I just checked under "devices and drives" and the computer sees the ipod, but iTunes does not.
Anything else I can try?

Was it when you switched to Windows 11 that it stopped synching? I'll be curious to see what others have to offer for advice. My wife still uses her Nano for podcasts and music while walking. Her laptop is still running Windows 10 though.

My wife has, and likes those old fashioned devices. Apple have not supported that device for years. My wife still has a docking station for hers, which unfortunately still works. However it stopped being able to be synched to our AVP in our great room years ago. When my wife puts that contraption in the Altec device in the kitchen, I run upstairs fast.

Your unit is a recycle job.

It may be an issue with the USB port on the iPod side. Earlier versions of USB (pre-C) ports had a finite number of connections they should support, which aren't larger numbers.

It's up to you whether the repair cost is worth it. If you're curious, contact several third-party electronics repair shops, and don't be shocked by the price, which I expect to be around $200.
You could also do it yourself - see a few resources below, but then you need experience with micro soldering and specialized repair equipment.

Alternatively, if you like to stick with Apple devices - an iPhone SE (1st gen), which is a bit newer than the iPod touch 6th gen - costs even cheaper at $79 or less on eBay with 4x the capacity - 128gb or $74 for 64gb version in Excellent/Mint condition:

This is bizarre. I fired up my Acer laptop for the first time in months. I opened iTunes and made sure "do not automatically sync" was checked. Remember, I had reset the black iPod to factory. A window in iTunes opened that said "welcome to your new iPod". So the iPod works! The desktop itunes is v. 10. The laptop is v. 12. Both super old. I will try uninstalling itunes on the desktop and re-install it with v 12. If I still have the exe file and I imagine I do.
If that fails, I like @BoredSysAdmin 's idea of an old iphone. But I do not exactly know how to differentiate both folders on one iPod or iTunes for that matter. I'll cross that bridge if I need to. btw, my black one is 64g, the white one for LP's is 32g.

Apple killed off iTunes for Mac and incorporated the iTunes store in others apps. The same is happening slowly over on Windows PCs. Look for the Apple Devices app.

I like drag and drop players. But car radios will control an iPod. My Journey Crossroad has upgraded sound. So it's pretty convenient to have your whole digital library with you sometimes. The other option is to bring a stack of CD's! Nope. Wouldn't be prudent. Not gonna do it.

Hey, V. 12 works! It recognized my iPod right away! My iTunes library was all there. Syncing all the data now.

Over 50 minutes so far and it's only half done. 42 gb of data on this iTunes. I am recording my favorite podcast to listen to tomorrow though (no download button that I can find, so I record it everyday). RAM is 16 gb.
