Though I like poker fine enough, like most dudes.
Just curious. I like trick taking games.
I particularly like learning foreign card games, and then of course turning them into drinking games with my friends.
I've recently been learning bridge. It's going to take a long time to understand the bidding, though the gameplay seems straightforward enough.
I've been playing a lot of sheepshead, a game that is popular in Wisconsin. I've played 2, 3, 4, 5 player versions.
Durak is the most common Russian game, and there's no winner, just a loser.
Preference is another game from that land, but boy oh boy is that complex. These games are referenced sometimes in Russian literature; I remember both being mentioned in The Brothers Karamazov.
I learned the French game Belote a long time ago, but forgot how to play.
The one American card game that I'd like to relearn is spades. I think I played once in HS way back when. I've played hearts, of course, and also Cribbage and Euchre, but sort of forgot how to play those.
Any recommendations out there?
Cheers.
