I have about 3K to spend on a processor, any other choices feel free to post them.

I'm an Anthem and Parasound fan, having owned a number of pieces but Onkyo/Integra Research has really piqued my interest since reading about them elsewhere. I also liked the modular approach Onkyo had with the earlier TX-NR1000.

Right there with you, with the 3K limit

I have about 3K to spend on a processor, any other choices feel free to post them.

Been looking at Parasound C1 and C2. AudioAdvisor was selling the C1 for around $3600 and the C2 around $2800 (factory refreshed, but 10-year warranty and they are an authorized dealer. C1's may be sold out, but may appear again. Great reviews everywhere, but I got to wonder why there have not been any new models in close to five years with Parasound? Reviews are mostly from 2002-2003. Does not seem to be a ton of competition in this price range either and maybe there is nothing to improve upon in their eyes.

Have not done as much research on Anthem, so not fair to comment there.

Have also considered going lower cost, with the rapidly changing technology in this particular segment, processors with HDMI, extra channels (versus amps, speakers, screens, etc.). Considered Outlaw, Emotiva for half the cost.

Tell us where you decide to go, will do the same. Half the fun is shopping this stuff out.

I've been looking at Anthem, but it seems $3k won't get much for your money if you're looking for video functionality. Here's a chart of Anthem's features.

http://www.anthemav.com/NewSitev2.0/AnthemProduct/AVM30_40_50/CompChart/downloads/avm30_40_50_d2_comp.pdf

When I look at that new Integra DTC-9.8, it seems to me you would have to move up to the AVM-50 to get all the features of the Integra. Now I don't know about who uses which chip or which chip is better or what have you, but if the Integra does what it says it does for $1,600, that's good enough for me because the AVM-50 is $4,699.

Even compared to the Emotiva and Outlaw, the Integra has 4 in/2 out HDMI 1.3a, lossless format capability, 3 sub out, scaling and deinterlacing of all sources to 1080p, balanced in/outputs and zone 2 HD video over component, etc.

I'm pretty hooked on the Integra. If there is any reason to look at an Anthem or Parasound, I'd like to hear the case for them myself before I purchase.
