Anthem AVM30 and MCA 50 and 20

I am looking to buy the above three items to go into my home theater system.

I have looked at Rotel, but they seem to be more musical, and Krell which was a little out of my price range.

I have one dealer offering me a 10% off and another offering 8%, can you find them cheaper?

Any comments good or bad?

Don't abandon the idea of that Rotel. They are good amps, as are the others. It will do well in your system if it can drive your speaker load and sensitivity. Judging amps as 'musical' or something else is very subjective at best and unreliable usually.

The AVM30 is a fantastic SSP, easily one of the best values out there. I havent been as impressed with Anthem amplifiers though. The Statement stuff isnt bad (can you afford a Statement A5 and A2?) but their regular stuff is just ok. My favorite 5 + 2 combo (now that Proceed is no longer with us) are Parasound Halos.

I just replaced my Bryston 4BSST with the Anthem P2 and never looked back. Those Statement amps are really something.

I also tried the Halo amps and preferred the P2+P5 combo.

Interesting, I found the Statements to be a little lean down low and slightly agressive up top compared to the Parasounds, but thats me. The fact that Anthem designed them to survive a shorted channel though is astonishing, I dont know of any other amp that can do that. Clearly any speaker load should be no sweat for the Anthems.

i have an mca-20 and am very satisfied with it. Looked at rotel as well and liked them very much too. Either way, you'll be good to go (I think).

Not sure I agree with you on the "regular stuff". The MCA series are widely regarded as the A5 and A2 without the window dressing.
