I was in a similar boat and was interested in Oppman's Inifnitys but I couldn't get up there to take a listen.
I was initially all sprung on the Klipsch Rf series, but looking at the RF-52s. I spent time listening in different audio store rooms as different rooms will effect what you hear. The Klipsch are very good and sound great, but over time in listening to music, I felt "fatigue." Meaning my ears and mind felt tired from the effect and taht I wanted to go to a quiet room to give them a rest. My room is also big, open, airy with flat surfaces. The Kipsch fell out of favor the more time I spent listening to different brands.
So what is a guy to do? I listened to Focal and liked them, but they were out of my budget. I forget some of the other brands I listened to and liked.
My answer? I ordered a pair of the Axiom M60s and the VP150 center. I am taking a gamble, but the time I spent listening to various brands gave me an indication of what I liked to hear and from the reviews, I think the Axiom can deliver.
Wish I had them already so I could give you my feedback. But the hardest thing I ran into is no retailer/shop carried every brand so I could compare against each other in the same room. What finally cemented my decision was (igroring the fact I was driving myself crazy) was listening to several brands in a shop that had a room with similar characteristics to my room. I am taking a leap of faith on the Axioms, but I felt comfortable enough to place the order.
