I saw this tonight and it's really excellent in a low budget-Sundance sort of way. "Rhoda" is a teen girl who gets in a horrible car wreck in which a musician's entire family is killed, she is jailed. At the same time, astronomers discover a planet that looks like a clone of earth, on a path to intercept our orbit. 4 years later, out of jail, the young woman, with a ruined life, attempts to make things right for the formerly comatose, now traumatized and alcoholic former father/husband. Meantime the other Earth has gotten closer and become a pop culture phenom. How these two events connect would be a spoiler, but suffice to say, it's interesting.

This film has excellent performances, an interesting plot and dime-store FX...no problem. It's an example of someone with an idea and some hand held cameras and energized actors, doing an excellent movie. If you have a local art-house, it's well worth a view. There are probably no actors you will recognize, production values are "economical" but it's much like an extended episode of classic Twilight Zone...full of irony and intelligence. The quality of acting is on a par with Winter's Bone. It's also a quiet movie, with a moody feel, somewhat like Let the Right One In (if you've seen the terrific Swedish vampire movie).
