Well, not really by himself as he has a bunch behind him helping, starting with Rubio. ;) Followed by the Reps in congress, just standing by as a bunch of cult members.

The US is descending to the level of Nazi Germany by the day and hour.
Sorry mark, but this is ridiculous. Way to minimize the holocaust. Maybe you can say that when tanks start rolling through Mpls blowing it to pieces.

You mean like drumphy has with holocaust records already along with DEI stuff? It's a relatively quiet coup backed by drumphy's idiotic supporters.

I did not say we had got there, but we are descending and well on our way now.

Lies aplenty.

Ignoring rightful judicial orders.

Rounding up and incarcerating people of specific identities, and indulging in illegal physical abuse that amounts to torture.

Curtailing academic freedoms and attacking hallowed institutes of leaning.

All that is needed to complete the picture now is the gas chambers.

Wake up William, these are sinister and dark times.

The Achilles heel of this nation has been its neglect of world history, a subject far too many Americans are pig dribble ignorant off and that is a massive and dangerous defect to the national character.

There is no doubt this Trump regime fulfills the criteria for being a fascist regime. There is no doubt about that. In my view it is now clearly an illegal regime.

Some of the voters were cultists. Some of the politicians are sad anyway, but I imagine quite a few go along with it because they have a mortgage to pay and/or position to protect.

The 4th Circuit is not happy (to put it mildly) with the administration. The judge who wrote the opinion was appointed by Reagan.

These are not loony left judges.

The administration can continue to blast the American people with huge loads of bullsh*t, but that will not change the facts or the law.

From the opinion:

>>>If today the Executive claims the right to deport without due process and in disregard of court orders, what assurance will there be tomorrow that it will not deport American citizens and then disclaim responsibility to bring them home?∗ And what assurance shall there be that the Executive will not train its broad discretionary powers upon its political enemies? The threat, even if not the actuality, would always be present, and the Executive’s obligation to “take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed” would lose its meaning. U.S. CONST. art. II, § 3; see also id. art. II, § 1, cl. 8.

Today, both the United States and the El Salvadoran governments disclaim any authority and/or responsibility to return Abrego Garcia. See President Trump Participates in a Bilateral Meeting with the President of El Salvador, WHITE HOUSE (Apr. 14, 2025). We are told that neither government has the power to act. The result will be to leave matters generally and Abrego Garcia specifically in an interminable limbo without recourse to law of any sort. . . .

The Executive may succeed for a time in weakening the courts, but over time history will script the tragic gap between what was and all that might have been, and law in time will sign its epitaph. . . .

In sum, and for the reasons foregoing, we deny the motion for the stay pending appeal and the writ of mandamus in this case. It is so ordered.<<< (emphasis added)

The court clearly recognizes exactly what the administration is attempting to do.

The administration could easily takes steps to return Garcia. The feigned helplessness (wink, wink) is just dumb. The fact that the administration is choosing instead to fight the courts tooth and nail makes it crystal clear that the administration wants to establish a way to deport anyone, anytime, for any reason.

There are numerous laws on the books that the administration can use to deport people. However, the Constitution always requires due process.
Some background on the deal with El Salvador.

I would just scrap it. All Constitutions become a problem over time and are hard to update. So the best course is not to have one!
So, no guidelines for the government, at all?

That's a ridiulous idea and it still doesn't answer my question- replace it WITH WHAT? England can have a Constitution but the US has to scrap ours?

Why did you come to the US?

England doesn't have a constitution. The UK's constitution is unwritten. The US may as well have an unwritten one, as well, for all the regard the present administration has for it.

England does not have a written formal constitution. It is based on tradition and precedence. There is a supreme court which can rule on controversial issues, like this week on transexuals.

When I came to the US Ford was president and the election that elected Jimmy Carter was less then two weeks away. We arrived October 31 1976, via the Windy Gates border crossing just North of Langdon ND.

I asked why, meaning 'for what purpose'?", not "Who was in office, who was next and where did you enter?".

You seemed to be OK with the US having a Constitution before Trump was elected.

Obviously, things have changed a lot since that time, but does scrapping the Constitution really seem like a good idea? Have you thought about its purpose? When was the last time you read it?

Do you honestly think and believe that the US could function without a Constitution? A nation of 340 million is very different from one with about 70 million. You have every right to state your opinions, but I think you're wrong in thinking that scrapping the Constitution is a good idea, especially without any recommenation of an alternative.

The link is wrong? What was the purpose of the Magna Carta?

An unwritten Constitution- that's great, but we aren't 'subjects of the crown'. The US has enough BS going on, removing this would just increase the chaos.

I'm sure you're aware of government actions, laws, etc being ruled 'unconstitutional', right? If we didn't have one, we would have no protection from government overreach and abuse of the people.

Lack of regard for it doesn't mean it should be removed- what it means is that the politicians who are disregarding it should be removed.

Interesting. Dropping charges against an alleged MS-13 leader certainly looks suspicious:

>>>As part of the deportation flights of alleged terrorists at the center of a legal and political storm, the US quietly dropped charges against a key alleged MS-13 leader and returned him to the pro-Trump leader of El Salvador.

César Humberto López-Larios, an alleged top leader of the MS-13 gang who US investigators believe has information that could implicate top Salvadoran government officials in possibly corrupt deals with the violent gang, was deported on one of the controversial flights, according to current and former US officials and court documents. . . .

But bringing MS-13 leaders to face charges in the US has been a top priority for the Justice Department, and the transfer is a major loss of potential intelligence for investigators who helped track down López-Larios for his arrest in Mexico last year, current and former officials say.<<< (emphasis added)

https://www.cnn.com/2025/03/24/politics/ms-13-leader-deported-el-salvador-boasberg-order/index.html

It could explain why the administration has invoked the state secrets doctrine.

>>>The Justice Department said in a court filing Monday that it was exercising what's commonly called the "state secrets privilege" in the case because sharing the information would harm diplomatic relations and national security.<<<

Invoking the state secrets doctrine in this situation struck me as being odd. There really shouldn't be any need for it if the "deal" with El Salvador is above board.

It might also explain why the administration decided to invoke the Alien Enemies Act and get them out of the country quick without any court hearings.

This is highly speculative on my part, but I can't help but wonder if there was a dirty deal (done dirt cheap) to get the prisoners out of the U.S. so they couldn't testify in court, which might have been damaging in some way.

I'm curious what the h*ll is actually going on.

What would you think could be in their testimony, some official involvement in the border crossings and drug trade, in the way the DOJ was involved in Fast & Furious?
