Another BIC review . . .

It is amazing, the BIC's have been getting a lot of run here in the forum. Well, yesterday, my DV62CLR-S arrived, and I gave it a quick tryout, and all I can say is "WOW".

First, to recap my last review, I bought a pair of the DV84's for the fronts, and the D26's for the surrounds. I am extremely happy with the DV84's, and was equally as disappointed with the D26's. I thought with the dual tweeters, they would work great as a surround speaker to help fill the room with sound. The only problem is the sound is quality is not good - the speakers really lack separation and clarity.

I only had a few minutes with the DV62CLR-S last night, but the speaker made quite and initial impression. I had Donald Fagen, James Taylor and Elvis Costello loaded, so I played a few tracks from each (it was kind of a mellow first test). The sound is incredible. Given the size of the speaker (it really is quite large), I guess it is not surprising how full and rich the sound is. I was also surprised at how efficient it seemed. I know it is rated exactly the same as the DV84's at 90dB, but the speaker really overpowered the 84's (certainly placement also has a lot to do with that, as I have the 84's spread out pretty far right now). But after adjusting the center level, I realized what a great compliment and match this speaker is to the 84's. The three of them sound great together.

I finally decided to order both the DV62si's and the DV52si's, so that I can listen to them both. If the 62's sound noticeably better, I'll go with them for the surrounds. If it is close, I'll probably go with the 52's. It was so easy to return the D26's on Amazon, I figure I can return a pair, or I maybe I'll keep them both, and use the 52's as presence speakers.

Anyway, I can't wait for the RX-V2500 to get here so I can try out the V1220 sub . . .

Try out the high level inputs on the sub with the DV84's. They sound really good together. I recomend turning the crossover down quite low, ~40Hz or less.
