I'm not the biggest fan of Bud or Bud Light either, but being from the STL area, it does suck to have such an iconic employer taken over by outside forces...We'll see how long the jobs stay here I guess :(

Who knows? Maybe they'll bring in more jobs to St. Louis by moving some production/management stateside. Maybe not - but you never know.

I interviewed with AB back in the 90's. That was right went they discontinued Eagle snacks (at least the pretzels) and were selling the Cardinals. That seemed like the end of an era to me.

That may very well be the case. I think it's less expensive to hire Americans than Europeans these days.

I just toured the institution a couple weeks ago. Very cool place.
It is sad to see an American icon become foreign owned...capitalism at it's finest. :(

Belgium adopted the Euro in 1999, so InBev is paying $0.63 cents on the dollar for Budweiser.
I can't blame any foreign interests; their getting such great deal with the our dollar's situation.

I'm not a fan of Budweiser. I actually like some of the Stella Artois brands. It may not be huge doom and gloom. The HR and Finance people are always the first to go. Time will tell. We'll see.

Hey, I homebrew ... and hate AB products. But they are an American institution ... or were ... and it's sad to see that go. I also live in St Louis, and it'll undoubtedly have a major negative impact on the local economy - things like this always do. AB has also had a FREE park in St Louis called Grant's Farm. It's a great place to take the kids, it's like a small zoo with train rides, a petting zoo, and they even give out 2 free beers per day to guests. You can pretty much count on that going away within a few years. The real estate it's on is pretty prime, so I have no doubt they'll sell it off to residential and commercial developments.

Sure it's personal to me, but I see nothing good that could possibly come from this.

BTW, my wife works at AG Edwards which was recently bought by Wachovia. AG Edwards was another St Louis institution, there's getting to be none left!

Good point, though I am still a bit sour at how they did everything in their power to keep small microbrews down like rallying on the ridiculous bottling law in Florida that had to have FLA stamped on the cap, restricting certain bottle sizes, and stuff like this:
