Its a southern thing. Deep fried pork fat is as old as it gets. People would take the skins with a generous amout of fat and fry it. (Ala pork rinds). We use to joke that it was "straight butter" hence the reference.
Up North we call it fat back, my family has cooked with it for generations and still does, it was used during the depression times to add flavor to any simple dish. I will try to make my own pork rinds. It's been a pleasure Scott.

No worries Jeff. Please post your findings and impressions using the analog outputs of the panny. While most will use current technology, it is always nice to hear about a players ability to decode and output. FWIW and I may have missed it, what is you current serup?
I sold my neighbor a couple of Martin Logan subs to go with some cheap Sony speakers he had and he does his BM via the optical device and is stupid happy with the results. (Albeit with cheap arse speakers)

Scott, I will post my findings once I get the Panny DMP-BD85 hooked up via analog preouts, I'll be doing a side by side comparison with the PS3 slim hooked up via optical cable bitstreamed to the Onkyo 702, BM will be done in the receiver using PS3 and in the player using the Panny. I must add I am quite impressed using the optical devise of the PS3 and the receiver doing the BM, I think I will be hard pressed to tell the difference with the 85 doing the BM and not the receiver, we shall see.
