Another possibility is the ATI AT1202 stereo amp (2ch).

AT1202 Two-Channel Amplifier

It is conservatively rated @ 120wpc/8ohm & 180wpc/4ohm, which means it will be closer to 150wpc/8ohm & 200wpc/4ohm.

ATI is one of the few remaining rare American muscle amp company (all made in California). They are well-known for making amps for Mark Levinson, Lexicon, JBL, Outlaw Audio, Earthquake Audio, & Cinepro. We are talking high quality parts. No wonder they have earned the respect of the Harman International group and many others.

You can get the AT1202 for $600 (retail $900) from an ATI authorized dealer Classic Audio Parts with full 7 yr warranty.

Amplifiers
They had this Theta Digital Intrepid Five Channel x 100 Watt Amplifier - Black (120 V) - Amplifiers a few moths back for 1k. I think that would have been a great buy. Even at this price now I think it's a great amp. Is that made by ATI also?

I just need something that will deliver 100W at 4ohm with a reasonably low distortion level because that is what was recommended for the speakers I'm looking at.
I would recommend a pair of Hypex NC400s

I guess there also numerous pro amp (Crown, Yamaha, etc) options that'll fit the needs of the OP ... might want to look for some deals on those.

Yeah, ATI bought Theta & B&K. If there are any more American amp companies left, ATI will end up buying them to.:D

It will be ATI vs China.:D
That's good, at the end it'll be just a one stop shopping. I just like US made amps.

Ok, first I want to thank Walter and ADTG for their help and suggestions. Since I've already got your attention, pre-amp? I was looking at the marantz AV 7005, for 1299 to my door. Do either of you guys, or anyone else for that matter, have any suggestions in this price range?

There have been a few reports on both AH & AVS forums regarding the ground loop hum noise issue with the AV7005.

Obviously, it doesn't happen to most people, but it has happened to some unlucky souls.

Bottom line, make sure the dealer has a generous return policy just in case you're unlucky.

Other than that, it seems to be a fine pre-pro.
