Amplifiers to close to Speakers?

Hello,

I have a general question on amplifier placement:

Will the amplifier cause any interference with the speakers if they are placed to close to each other?

My room is a little bit uncompromising and I am forced to place my amplifiers about 1 foot away from my front L and R speakers.

I wonder if anybody on this forum has any experience with feedback/interference from a similar setup?

Considering that most studio monitors have amplifiers in the speaker cabinet, I'll say it's unlikely to be a problem.

Not a problem. A lot of people that do the monoblock thing place the amps very close to the speakers.

Yeah, I know a guy who had a MC1.2KW right next to each speaker. No one who listened to that system complained about sound quality issues.

If you hear anything when the music isn't playing, the easy test would be to move the speaker away from the amp. Otherwise, it's not a problem. Low level signals are more likely to pick up noise but even then, as long as the cables and terminations are good, it should work fine.

Indeed, I have seen "audiophiles" place their amps on special stands just to keep them close to the speaker. Apparantly, closer is better :D.

Maybe they just didn't notice it so close, made a mental connection to issues;):D

It makes the amplifier feel needed. And amplifiers with a sense of purpose in their life sound more natural.
I thought they sounded sweeter:D but, my thoughts could be all full of stuff:eek:

I believe in cold and cruel music. So my amps are scrictly separated from my speakers.

You softies are ruining the next generation by spoiling them.
