Can someone confirm that the top tier models from Yamaha and Denon are running class AB?

I've seen nothing about either company (so add Marantz) switching to class D yet but haven't really followed the latest releases. It'll probably happen some day, tho....

I think all the current Denon, Marantz and Yamaha AVR releases are still AB. Pioneer is the only one I know for sure using Class D. Arcam has a Class G for its top end otherwise I believe its AB.

I heard back from Yamaha and the old RX-V series and the RX-A series are all class AB. Bookmark, you hold the same opinion as I do.

Agreed...
It will happen.
Many don't recall Harman/Kardon had a 7.1 AVR with Class D amplifiers that met THX Select 2 requirements 10 years back..
Today's Class D solutions are sonically excellent, plus now with system requirements of more amplifier channels beyond 7 channels for Dolby Atmos & DTS X it makes alot of sense and keeps the component's footprint reasonable... One can get many more watts per $ and channels with Class D amplifiers...

Just my $0.02... ;)

First they’ll want you to buy to go hdmi 2.1, then a couple years later class D with 7.1.8 to get you to buy again yet one more time. :)

Yamaha use class A/B according to the reviewer who did a write up on the 2070. Here is the quote from the reviewer of the 2070 at Sound and Vision
"
Yamaha tells us lots of details about the receiver’s design—anti-resonance structures, proprietary capacitors and transformers, high-end ESS/Sabre DACs for the main channels—but when it comes to the amplifiers, we’re only told of their “symmetrical design,” not their class or topology. Personally, I don’t care: Whatever their format, they proved to be powerful, transparent, and capable. [Editor's Note: Yamaha confirms that it is indeed a traditional Class A/B design"

Pioneer uses class D and Anthem uses class D for the surround channels in their MRX receivers, I think.
