Any update on Amphony 5.8 Wirless Amp/transmitter

Clint,

I have searched the WWW and although I find lots of places saying that Amphony introduced their 5.8 Ghz wireless amp/transmitter at CES ... including your post ... I can't find anyone selling them or anyone who has reviewed them.

Have you had a chance to actually see these - the 1550 model? Do they exist? Better still - any chance they have been reviewed anywhere?

Thanks

Jon,
I am also interested in the product for use as a zone 2 on the patio or other rooms of the house. I am working on the main HT first, but found it at ramelectronics.com

Have not seen any reviews but there are a couple reviews of another T-amp product by Sonic Impact.

Do to the fairly low wattage, you will get the best performance form an efficient pair of speakers.

Post a review on this site if you try the Amphony system.

jcPanny,

Thanks for that. I see they say the 1550 isn't available untli Sept. 2005. Mid Oct now, I will have to see if they are really there.

Currently have a house that I renovated about 3 years ago and wired it up for 7.1, but I am only using 5.1. We are moving to a Condo, open concept living room and no obvious way to run the wires for the rear speakers - so I was / am looking at the Amphony option. Would be great to hear someone say they work well.

Do you know if you need to plug in the amps? Or are the battery powered? Not sure how much use they will be for my application if I need to plug them both in ... trade speaker wire for power wire? But I am thinking they probably need to have more power than batteries can provide.

Years later, still not much on these. I almost purchased Rocketfish before coming across this. Purchased the Amphony L1520 wireless transmitter and amplifier from Sewell Direct, open box. Just received these and installed 2 days ago, so can't comment on durability. Can say: works exactly as advertised. No extraneous noise, interference, hum, etc., with source either on or off. I can't really comment on sound quality, except to say that when hooked up as secondary pair of speakers, they sound exactly like main pair (identical Infinity bookshelves). Works great as a surround solution. They are driving my 8ohm 86db Infinitys without complaint. Amp power is at 50% and transmitter close to 100% to balance sound level. I have no other 5.8ghz equipment and am semi-rural, so can't comment on how they respond to interference. I love this so far--it is everything I hoped for. And yes, the amp requires a 24volt power supply and wires to the rear speakers, or two power supplies in the case of 1550.

Has anyone here used the Amphony 1500 system?

If so:
1. I wondering how you like its performance.
2. I'm wondering where you bought it. The only place that I've found it so far is the Amphony online store. They link to three other online stores that carry some of the their other products for cheaper than the Amphony store, but none of them carry the 1500.

Thanks!

Adam

Warning warning - stay away from this product!

This product worked for 1 day and then stopped working. The company provided an RA however when they issued a refund they withheld $20 for a restocking fee. When I proceeded to ask for my money back because there is nothing to restock because the item is defective, they refused to. They then said that they couldn't test the unit, which isn't my problem, and insinuated that I broke it or didn't hook it up properly. My husband has been in the audio business for 20 years .... it was hooked up properly. Red and white to red and white - it is not rocket science. Long story short....I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER PRODUCT OF THEIRS AGAIN AND WILL RECOMMEND THAT YOU DON'T ALSO. They do not stand behind their product and are an unethical company.

Hello from Italy.
I want to speak about my experience with a L1500 even if not in the thread title.
Bought from magicsound.it it was supposed to pilot the active subwoofer placed few meters away from the amplifier, but it didn't.
The signal from the sub outs was not transferred, only a full level signal out worked (tape out) but that is unuseful as the volume level fixed to the max don't follow the satellite speakers volume level.
Plus the auto-off did not work. The transmitter stays always on and overheat in few hours.
I returned the L1500 and after three (!) months I got a new one. Same problems.
I sent several emails to magicsound.it but they don't reply anymore. Amphony said that they would try to contact magicsound.it to discuss the problem but after weeks there are still no news.
