Amp to Speaker question

I have two speakers that handle 500 noise/1000 program/2000 peak at 4ohms
I have a crown amp that does 800 per channel at 4ohms. Is this enough power?
Crown XLS 802D with
Yamaha S215V Dual 15 pair

What's the application? How large of a venue will these be used for?

Given 800 watts the Yamahas should achieve over 125dB from 1 meter away. The Yamaha S215V has a 4 ohm nominal load.

at ten meters away with 800w, the sound level will be 105dB, to take headroom into account, a 15dB dynamic range will allow you 90dB without driving the amp into clipping, that is very loud. 20 meters will still allow you about 85 dB with headroom, which is still loud. this is assuming that amp can easily pump out 800w rms

Guys I will be using these speakers in a basement. Crazy I know! I just want quality sound. So I would say I would be about 4 to 6 meters away. Crazy I know. Just don't know pro audio very well and wanna make sure I don't under power these speakers. Thanks guys for the input!

as a good rule of thumb most large PA speakers require less power because they are more effecient

Depends on your definition of "quality".

These are PA speakers, made to play loud in a large area with wide dispersion, not necessarially musical.

IOW, in a club scene the might do very well, but close up and intimate, like you describe, you might find them lacking, no matter how much power you feed them.

Kinda like expecting a Peterbuilt tractor to handle like a sports car...

they are overkill, especially for the price, considering you can get some really nice home audio speakers for that price.
