What are you guys using for unbalanced interconnects between your amp and receivers?I don't have a preamp ,I'm using my receiver as one.I was using a Belden 1505F,but i switched to a Synergistic alpha and I use a kimber pbj from my cd to the receiver.

From my AVR to 5 ch amp, I have 2 Monster Cable 'entry level" cables, I got for 10 bucks, 2 Rat Shack cables and 1 Monoprice cable.

Hey, it's what was in my closet....

I'd have to agree w/mtrycrafts, just about any RCA cable will do so long as it doesn't pick up any interference, which any well built cable should be able to avoid.

I'm using these from Acoustic Research. Bought them for about 5-7 dollars cheaper on eBay barely used a couple of years ago, they work just fine.

If I were to purchase them again, I'd likely get either these coaxial cables from Monoprice or these RCA cables from Monoprice and just separate the L/R from each other.

If I were starting from scratch and didn't have any cables, I'd definitely consider making them myself, but at this point, it's just easier for me to pick up a few here or there. I'm sure most RCA cables will work just fine... -TD

I'm using the LC-1 cables from Blue-Jeans cables. They can make them custom length and their turn around time is fantastic...

So I got my hands on the tool. I could use some tips on picking up the stripper babes. My real problem is that I'm crunched for time. I need to pick up my sister in a few short days before I go back home.
I Read your thread just a little confused

Cheap cables

Okay, I'll share my story about a pair of Monprice audio cable I used.

It was a pair "premium RCA digital audio cable". I was trying to use them for Stereo L+R to connect a DVD player to a TV. Simple hookup. Guess what happened?

NO SOUND.

What the heck?

Okay, let's try this other cheap audio L+R cable instead.
It worked! Stereo Sound!!!

Conclusion: Defective cable.

I mean it could have happened to any cable, but I have NEVER EVER had it happen to ME before! First time EVER! A defective cable?

Cheap connectors? Loose connectors?

Even Honda makes 'em.

I've had all kinds of RCA cables, cheapies that came free w/the device, Rat Shack, AR, Monoprice, even the one that shall not be named (due to unlicensed use of the word that rhymes with Bonster :D), but I've never had one that didn't work.

W/out seeing the cable itself, I'd hinder a guess a solder weld broke free or the cable was severed or damaged inside the jacket, but my bet would be on the first scenario. Monoprice's connectors are neither cheap nor are they loose, at least on the more than 10 or so component and RCA cables I've purchased, there pretty much industry standard that is a step or two above the free handout cables and a step below esoteric foofy cables. The only ones I've seen better are the spin locking connectors which I have on one set of AR component cables, which generally is a bit of overkil IMO.

Regardless, I'm sure the problem you had was a QA whoops like Emorphien mentioned, nothing more. If I saw/heard of this more frequently, I'd be less likely to recommend them for sure, but as of now, haven't seen or heard of any problems like this besides yours. Unless there's more reports of things like this, I'll still recommend them to those that want well built cables w/out spending too much... -TD

I thought Toyota was more reliable?:D
Seems like they've been slipping lately.

I like Hondas better either way, the Toyotas I've driven were always more boring and I really don't care for that chintzy plastic wood they seem to use so much of. Maybe (hopefully) they don't use that anymore.
