My current setup is below. I would like to add a separate amp to power the front three speakers and my onkyo to power the two rears. Does this make sense? Also, how would I hook this up? Lastly, any amp recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Sony XBR5 52 inch, Onkyo txsr805 reciever, def tech bp7004 fronts, clr3000 center, bpvx/p sides, ps3, xbox360, wii, panamax ex5300, toshiba hd-a30 hd dvd player

Well all 5 of my current speakers have 10 inch subwoofers built in so I have plenty of bass for now until I get a larger room to use. I'm looking at possible an emotive amp and powering the front two towers with it and using my onkyo for the rest. Im curious about how I would hook the amp, reciever, and speakers all together.

You hook the speakers to the amp and connect the amp via rca cables to the preouts on the receiver. Just leave the rears as they are right now hooked up to the receiver. Of course if you went for the Behringer you would need XLR to RCA cables but the rest would be the same.

Not that the Definitive's aren't nice speakers. I just don't think they deserve a $3000 3 channel amp.

Not 7004's anyway. Honestly for that kind of cash he should upgrade to the 7000SC's and still have enough money to add the outlaw or behringer amps for the same price he was going to spend on just the amp!

7000's = $5000
7004's = $1600

$3400 difference. I think your math is a little off. LOL :eek: :D

LOL I just recommended the EP because the A500 has fans that he might find annoying. Besides a little bit more juice never hurt anyone as long as it's used in moderation. :D

The EP has a fan. The A500 doesn't.

The fans in the EP's absolutely need to be changed to be usable in a home theater.

Great ideas thanks guys. I like those outlaws I may stack them... should I invest the extra 2000 in a sub or safe up more and get those bp7000sc's?

One of my friends has those Outlaws stacked and they look great, and give excellent performance.

Only you can answer your question about the speakers. If you audition them and think they are worth the extra cash. Spend away.

Make sure you check the B-Stock for those Outlaw amps if you don't mind getting B-Stock. It looks like their available there for about $275 each. I've been kind of looking around with the same question. Do I need a 5 or 7 channel amp, or is there a better option for 3 channels? I think those Outlaws would be the answer, now if only it wasn't for mortgages....
