amp protection during thunderstorm and peak

I was watching a movie last night during a thunderstorm when the 1077 amp went into protection during a peak in sound. I turned it off and on ... and proceeded to watch again. (happened twice)

what's going on? what does the thunderstorm have to do with it?

(I have a voltage regulator)

If the rest of your power drawing devices remained on without a hick-up, I'd think the amp is overheating.

everything else was on but I've been using this amp for quite some time now and this only happened during that thunderstorm and only at particular peaks ... later that night, after the storm ... everything was a ok.
