Hi All,
I have a Hitachi HA-3 AMp (1982?) which I really like. It has 80 watts a side and pushes a pair of Cerwin Vega XLS-12 SPeakers. The outputs went on the amp last weekend so I had it repaired by a local stereo guy in hopes that he knew what he was doing. (hmmm) Anyway, he powered it up after replacing the outputs (whatever those are) and all seems to work fine. He said however that I may have hooked up the speakers incorrectly and thus blown the amp outputs. So before I plug it all back together, I thought I would ask the question. Is it even possible to have passive speakers act on an amp to blow internals such as this? The speakers are new, 1-1/2 years. Having said all that, when I first got the speakers, something went wrong with one of them and the audio store (who did not give me the right solution) told me there was something wrong with the amp. So I spent $100.00 to get the amp looked at and while he was there, he re-soldered all the connections (?) or whatever, which he said were all in really good shape anyway. Problem was still there as there was something wrong with the speaker. I had to call CV direct and got a very nice person who I asked to authorize the store to give me a new speaker and I will exchange this one. (they wanted to fix a brand new speaker and I wasnt cool with that) So theres the history. Can I plug in the speakers incorrectly? Can I continue to use the equipment and not be concerned something else is going to go wrong. Let me know your thoughts or past experience. Thank you in advance for your interest.

PS - speakers have bridged jumper straps which I keep in place as only one output to speakers (+-)
