Looking at different avrs, probably go with a Denon, but confused on models. The amazons appear to be the same as on denons site but one number off, and much more expensive than on denons site. Different contractor? Japanese vs China? Built for specific vendors? Thanks.

Different year models? e.g.3300/3400/3500 are same essential models over three years with certain feature updayes each year.... 3500 being the newest. Similar for 4300/4400/4500. What models are you interested in?

Hmm yea I guess you’re right. Looking at 34,44, & if I can talk the boss into it, the 6400. But yea, looking at the Denon site it’s the 3500,4500,6500. But can’t find anything obvious that’s different. Hard to compare switching pages. I wonder if the imax thing will trickle down to the lower/older models? It’s just a firmware update right?

There's a comparison tool on the Denon site where you can compare three of the avrs' features.... Imax at this point I don't even understand what it offers as far as the avr goes.... One other consideration is origin for the upper end avrs, still made in Japan vs Vietnam.

Yea but the site only compares new models....so Just ordered a pb1000! So I’m pretty jazzed about that. Another question on network avrs in general, once you do the firmware updates, is there a reason to keep it connected to the net? I typically turn off anything not in use to speed other things up. I guess a connection would be needed to use app. But other than that do you just keep it off?

It is limited. There's also dedicated threads for model year ranges on avsforum that are helpful. I don't allow automatic updates, if the update is something I need them I take care of it and I'd consider doing it via usb drive to avoid wifi issues. I use the net for sources of streaming so I leave it connected to my network. I doubt eliminating the network access speeds anything up of any interest.

Updating and streaming are the main reasons I keep mine hooked up.
