I can't seem to figure out how to get Amazon Prime working with my Legacy Yamaha RX-Z1. Right now I'm using component connections to the ceiling mounted projector. If I connect a fire stick to the projector I get video but no sound. What to do? Help!

How are you expecting to get the sound back to the Z1?

Unless your PJ has optical output or analog audio outputs, no.
Thanks! I'm guessing PJ is Projector and no it doesn't. When my new receiver arrives (one or two months), will I be able to plug the fire stick directly into it and have both audio and video?

Yes, shouldn't be an issue. What Projection unit do you have make/model?

Depending on your needs, you might consider moving up to fire tv. The 2nd gen has a better processor implementation and it operates much smoother.

Projector is a Sony SXRD about 8 yrs old. I'm slowly upgrading my system and will eventually go for a new projector.

Thanks for that solution. I think, however, that I’m going to upgrade my avr which should enable me to make the connection directly thru an HDMI input. I hope...

What model projector do you have?

The connection would be: Amazon FireTV-->HDMI-->Receiver-->HDMI-->Projector
The receiver would also connect to your speakers as your current receiver already does.

Be aware that if you have a 4K projector, you will need to be very aware of the HDMI cables you use. They must all be rated for 18Gb/s.
