Amazon Instant Video - Only PCM now?

Hi, all. I was wondering if anyone else noticed in the past ~week-ish that Amazon Instant Video only contains PCM audio. My Sony blu-ray player (BDP-S3100) got a software update, and now I only get PCM from AIV. I don't know if they are related, but the happened at about the same time. I was watching the same shows last week, and they displayed as "Dolby Digital" on my receiver. I ask because on the blu-ray player, the PCM audio is only in stereo (and for the life of me, I can't find any way to change that) versus 5.1 like it used to be.

I turned on my Sony PS3 to check if it was just the blu-ray player, but it also got an update (I don't know how recent, and I haven't used the PS3 in a while), and AIV is only PCM on it, too. It is multi-channel on the PS3, so Amazon didn't just downgrade the audio on all those shows unless the PS3 is converting stereo to surround, but I bought the blu-ray player for streaming because the PS3 fan is loud.

Netflix still sends bitstream audio, so it's not a universal issue with the Sony update.

Just curious if anyone else had this issue, and if you figured out a way to fix it. Thanks.

I was wondering the other day when I was watching Under The Dome on Prime why It wasn't 5.1. Maybe they are fixing something? Netflix is 5.1 on my Sony BX59 as well. EDIT: On Roku Prime is 5.1 though.

Ok just got off the phone with Amazon and they had no clue. They said they will call/email me back if they have any other info.

Netflix DD media is still showing as DD on the PS3, so must be a Prime thing. Haven't watched anything on Prime since last week, so will check too.

So anyone getting 5.1 on the Sony? It's goes off and on, on the Roku box.

I had a Sony 570 hooked up to my system and Amazon was 5.1 and Netflix was 2 channel. Installed my Oppo 103 and now it the opposite, what gives? This by the way has been this way now for 4 months.

^^ Yeah I still get only 2.0 for Netflix on my Roku, but on the Sony 5.1 if available. It's weird.

Seems like they fixed the problem Under The Wood, er I mean Dome is now 5.1 on my Sony with Amazon Prime.

You got back to this thread before I did. I noticed late last week that 5.1 was back, and I was just thinking this afternoon that I should report it. *Hangs head in shame.*
